  1. no problem... it was probably one of veepee's faves!
  2. wrist watch spray bottle oops ...I'm clueless
  3. starman... points taken re: Pedroia... we feel the same joy watching Ian day in and day out... enjoy him this week while he's in town... he's like a little leaguer in his enthusiasm... he just wants to be happy about the game and get his snow cone afterwards! ...don't you dare cry to me about "being down to three pitchers"... heck, we'd love to have just ONE! maybe we'll have a chance this week if your pitching is as "weak" as you say... but I think this is just one of those sneaky tricks by "the nation"... enjoy the stRangers... you are gonna get to a game aren't you? see Roy Hobbs live and in person?
  4. OK Geisha... now I understand... thank you... pffft! ...and guess what? Kinsler bats first to get on base... and he happens to do that more than Pedroia ...as well as drive in runs ...but far be it from me to argue with one of "the nation"... I forgot for a second there that "the nation" knows all ...and they "rule" as well! Pedroia is a fine young player... it's just that this year Kinsler is outperfoming him from the offensive side... there is a comparison, it's just that Pedroia comes in second... that's all...
  5. ...something strange is happening here ...there's a lot of wet stuff (that appears to be water) falling from the sky ...and it's not supposed to get out of the 90's today ...is the end near?
  6. never heard of it George... at least I don't think so...
  7. geisha... it was a rhetorical question, we all know about the 'greatness' of the BoSox "nation"... we've had it shoved down our throats by the media ad nausium for the last 4 or 5 years now... but the sad fact (for you nation people) is that this year "the nation" rules nothing but the wild card race for now... let's see if they can take this series from the lowly stRangers first, better to focus on the task at hand! and while your young Pedroia is a fine player, I'll take our Ian Kinsler who (despite a slump since the break) leads Pedroia handily in every offensive category... where was the vocalization by this "nation" prior to their winning their first series? but they've been on a good run lately and we love doing player trades with Theo the infallable! (next time you see him thank him for us for the Gagne trade) feel free to come in here at any time to talk about your beloved BoSox and your "nation"... just be prepared to be smacked around a little (in a friendly way) This year (sadly) the Angels rule (at least until the playoffs begin)! ...at least not for the past four or five years huh?
  8. well... they "rule" the wildcard race... does that count? starman, the stRanger bats are replenished it seems... too bad we don't have any pitching to compliment yours this week... then it's back home for a nine game home stand in the 100+ degree heat (it was 'officially' 106 today, 108 in the shade of the back porch)...
  9. The only thing to know FOR SURE about Manny is that he wants to be wherever they are paying him the most $$$$... not taking anything away from his abilities... that's just the way it is (and it's far too prevelant)
  10. I give it to George... there's no doubt that he knows the artist... your turn George...
  11. yeah... we've had our first four game losing streak of the season... seems our offense is taking some time off... it's gotten me to thinking that maybe two week homestands filled with 100+ degree days just might be a little draining on a body... maybe not... Yeah, Nippert is one of our long relievers... about middle of the pack... thing about our pitching (starting and bullpen) is no consistency... one night everything will be great, hitting their locations, the next night... nothing. so the offense picks them up... but I think they're a little physically tired... a lot of 'loose swings' tonight and the last couple of games...
  12. Dear Ex10, please reconstruct your "from birth to the corps" essay and deliver it to me post haste!
  13. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. sure... here's an easy one... On a morning from a Bogart movie In a country where they turn back time You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre Contemplating a crime
  15. I think I'd mentioned in an earlier post that was what Manny wanted out of the deal with the Marlin.... Selig is somewhat of a jellyfish but I think he enjoys his position... and this (if it exists) may be being driven by the owners who, as far as I can tell, have no more love for Boras than we do... I can see him letting the deal go through with the option years staying in place though. I heard of/saw something yesterday that gives me "good feelings"... Brandon McCarthy, a 6'7" RHP we got from the CWS in a trade for Danks last year is trying to get off of the 60 day DL and up to the big club. They're being patient with him but so far he hasn't been able to make the move. He was scratched from his last minor league start the other day and brought to town because he felt "something just wasn't right"... Well, they brought him in to spend a couple of days with Andy Hawkins and Jim Colborn (our new pitching and bullpen coaches, and yesterday while they were working on some stuff who walks down to the field from his office but El Presidente himself... he talks to them, listens to them and then starts showing McCarthy some stuff about mechanics (and specifically) the leg kick... It seems that El Presidente Ryan has let everyone know that he's available for consultation on anything that the coaching staff might think he can help on and they took him up on it... I don't know how it can be anything but good to a young pitcher (or any player) if Nolan Ryan wants to help you out with some advice/knowledge...
  16. Well... it's not the same color as her.... ahem.... eyebrows!
  17. yeah... Wrigley in LA... I forgot about that... starman, Murphy to the DL after his collision with Pudge last night...
  18. And they were the LA Angels all those years ago weren't they (before they were the Cali Angels)?
  19. ...it might be a stretch to call them "the Ruth and Gehrig of our time"... as I recall Gehrig never missed a game... :) ...but I get your drift that they're both great hitters and probably both going to the HOF.
  20. don't complain now mstar! you coulda had Blalock at third, that kid who is hitting all of the homers in AAA in the outfield, Laird or Salty catching... we wanted to do business with Theo again... we like doing business with Theo! :)
  21. yeah... but everyone knows yours is a "dry" heat... when it's 105 out there it feels the same as if it's 95 here... today we got a break thanks to hurrican Eduardo and it didn't get out of the mid 90's...
  22. Tonight we have another 22 year old, Tommy Hunter, who is making his second major league start against Sidney (good riddance) Ponson... let's see if the magic continues... we'll try and help your boys out again mstar...
