Belle... that's quite a few "ists" you've got there... AND you should plant pointy, painful bushes under your windows... they act as a discouragement to prowlers and burg-a-lers... unless... BELLE!

...or it could just be that life's going along at a faster pace than you'd like and want to slow it down a little in order to be able to control it... or try to... (please leave a nickle in the cup by the door on your way out)

Does anybody have experience dealing with Native American beliefs?
Tom Strange replied to johniam's topic in Open
I don't know too much about it johniam... but I'm of a mind to give folks who want to follow those beliefs the same lattitude I'd like for mine... I know sometimes that dealing with siblings is a little tough, but why not use the incident as an open door to ask him what he believes? ...is there a possibility that two adult men who are pretty set in their beliefs can have a discussion about them? Perhaps there was something, at that moment, that really sparked him? ...and now, given a little time has passed, you can broach the subject with him of the 'outburst' and then ask him about his beliefs? That's just my suggestion... because I think there are as many 'factions' of Indian Spirituality as there are of Christendom... and to find out what's on his mind, in his heart... I'd ask him... If you fell like you can... -
A very happening day to you young lady... take the day off and let them all do their own laundry today! (something tells me this will be a long thread)

So then you assume that because we point out the ridiculous waste of money the space program is that we are "ignorant" of the benefits derived? I'll give you the point that there have been benefits derived from the space program if you'll give me the point that all of those benefits (and I'll wager many more) could have been derived without all of the expense of rockets, astronauts and training... And like Sushi points out... spending so much money to send so few into space... when the money and brainpower could be put to much more effective use for the "betterment" of mankind HERE ON EARTH makes no sense... no matter how great the "neato" factor...

must be "the whiz" then...

well how would I know that? I'm from TX and when I was in NYC I didn't visit Harlem... they forgot to put it on the tourist map...

I don't know if I can do "vulcan style"... sounds a little kinky to me...

but that's where I was going with the "this movie is popular around thanksgiving"... I was going to say the wizard of oz but you told me it had something to do with 125th street in NYC... ...of course now I watch it with the sound turned off and start 'Dark Side of the Moon' after the third roar of the lion...

Didn't he just win a world cup ski event somewhere over in Europe?

...that's fine, that's Hawking's religion... personally I believe that we'll keep on killing off each other at a great enough rate to keep living here for a lot longer than they think... and when we reach the point that the planet can't sustain us any longer either natural selection will take over or the aliens that put us here in the first place will come and get us (the rapture)...

It amazes me how ignorant so many people are in that they think these benefits couldn't have been come by without a space program... Let me explain it to you LG... we take all those billions of dollars and thousands of scientists and we focus them on finding solutions to the things we need or can use here on earth (rather than in space)... guess what would happen... we'd have ALL those "benefits of the space program" that are cited and more AND we'd have tons of money left over... ...And calling it "amazingly productive" is absurd... if these benefits were all that came of all the man hours and dollars invested in a real world company... it would've gone down the tubes long ago... a company with a negative ROI isn't going to attract many investors... I'm perfectly aware of the plethora of benefits that mankind and society has gotten from the space program, I'm just saying take out the expense of the rockets and astronauts and their training and you'd still have the benefits and, in reality, probably even more...

The girl in the pic is Laura Maureen Sullivan at age 5 picking with her Dad... her website says she's "Country Music's Next Star"...

hmmm... I've never had that happen to me and I just spread the soap around about halfway through loading it... of course, you can always start the water flow and put the stuff in before you put in the clothes, that way it mixes with the water first... Or just get yourself one of those cleaning ladies and tell them they have to do the laundry as well...

I loved that show... a classic!

why? ...so we can have more neat things like Velcro? what's the point? I wish they'd spend that money developing the affordable hydrogen fuel cell...
