  1. Johniam. You cracked me up! Not the part about being a "covert closet conservative", but the part about how you didn't that they wouldn't be hitting on the likes of you! That was too funny... :)--> And Garth, puhleeze! The window washer/Way apologist correalation? A tad bit absurd, especially the comment about "higher education". That was really a cheap shot. And, btw, I have an old friend who is no friend of TWI anymore, yet he still washes windows. And, if you will seek out John "Igotoutagain" R, here, most likely hanging about at the 7th Corps thread, you can probably get his website address from him and take a gander at his business. Now this guy has BIG COJONES! He does the windows on skyscrapers and such, and the pictures at his site are awesome! And, if I am not mistaken, he makes lots of moolah. ;)-->
  2. Well said Galen and George. I think that many times, people who believe that "gay is ok" fail to see that just because someone believes that "gay is not ok", that they treat gay people disrespectfully. Now, it may be said that I personally, here at this forum, have spoken disrespectfully, but I also believe, that when we have an open discussion on a subject, be it on various aspects of homosexuality, liberalism in government, or the differences between GWB and the John Kerry, that since it is open discussion (which will no doubt include passionate discourse), it will also include some name calling and etc. For instance, I have been called a "bigot", a "hater" and most recently, a "jerk"! So, what is "more evil"? Me being called a bigot, a hater, a jerk? Or me calling some one elses activities "twisted"? Neither is worse in my opinion, it all simply goes with the territory of the open discussion of controversial topics. Maybe instead of "twisted", I could have said ; "deviant behavior", and instead of being called a "jerk", I could have been called "not nice" or something to that effect. But I don't mind being called a jerk, in fact, I thought it was kinda funny! But I shall say, that when I leave these discussions, and have contact with gay people in public or the work place, I don't seek occasions to argue about sexuality, and I do not treat homosexuals with a disrespect.
  3. BTW Ex 10, I left you a Private Message on the 24th of the month, but I don't think you have checked there lately....
  4. Aww geez, EX10, and Ala P, I too had some great times with the both of you! I had been a dropout from high school, and the Tenth/12th Corps was my first ever "academic" situation that I had ever been involved with. I enjoyed the times I had there-well, some of the times I had there-and I am here to say that some of it was really good! I just plain loved the friends that I came in contact with, and I still draw on some of the challenges that were presented to me to this day! Sure, their agenda may have been different than mine or your own, but, at least somebody was playing the harmonica on our way to the top of that mountain, no? Eh?
  5. Wow Vickles, that is way cool. I wish I had taken a moment to observe my dog during the 7.9 Alaska quake of 2003...
  6. And to Seester EX10- you said No, you are not wrong. You should and did, treat that guy as you should have, with respect.
  7. Hi Vickles. I see that you are online at the same time as I am. "PC" stands for "politically correct", which is a term which describes how a person might respond to a "politically touchy subject". For instance: If the political attitude towards the game of "dodge ball" is that dodge ball is wrong, it is exclusionary-you get hit by the ball and you are out-and includes other children as "targets", and that the government should ban such activities because it may somehow "warp" our children's mind set, and you "go with the flow" and spout the same doctrine because you are worried about what the majority of people may think of you, then you are acting as "politically correct", or, "PC". And, you may be amazed at this, but the very county that I grew up in, Montgomery County, Maryland, has banned dodge ball in the Public School system for this very reason. It is the first county in America to do so as a matter of fact. Do a web search, it's interesting. Now, as for me, I don't want to be "PC". I want to make my own decisions, according to what I think is right, and logical. I think "dodge ball" is ok, and that it teaches a good life's lesson: The world is a jungle, and you had better learn how to move with it or against it, or dodge it, or, it'll eat you up! Just like a lot of athletic competitions. But all of this is just my opinion, although, I think it is right on with Life It's Ownself...
  8. But then Jesus told the woman; "Go, and sin no more" Sure he forgave her, told the haters to back off, and challenged them about their own sin which caused them to "dissapear" one by one, from the youngest to the oldest, but then he still said; "Go, and sin no more....." He forgave her, but he still reminded her of correct conduct, that which her lack of got her into trouble in the first place...
  9. Excathedra! You called me a jerk! :(-->
  10. Daryl and Trefor, Were we to work together, for the same company let's say, I think you would be surprised to find out how tolerant I would be of you, were I to come across the knowledge that you are gay. I wouldn't bring it up nor comment on it, unless my opinion were sought by you, and even then, I would simply state that I don't support the lifestyle, and I would probably tell you why. I would only take exception were you to try and push some agenda on me, or, if you were to be attracted to me in a gay sort of way, and do whatever gay guys do to try and "get some". It comes up here more easily and with more "gusto", because this is a discussion forum, and for the most part we are anonymous to eachother. But really, aside from our obvious contrary beliefs, I find you guys to be respectful in your arguments for the most part, and when your passion for your belief causes some running off at the mouth, as does happen with me, I accept that also. But with you, Daryl, this is the first I remember debating this broad subject with you being involved, and I haven't seen you be anything but decent in your suppositions and responses. Hey, Peace and love and a happy New Year...
  11. I could never go back. Sometimes I wondered if I would be interested in just doing a walk around HQ and if that would be interesting, but as I thought it through, I realized that I could never do that. I could probably stop through Emporia and walk the campus there, just for the sake of nostalgia, for I did have some great times there, but never HQ at NK. Besides, an old friend of mine from my old neighborhood and sixth grade days is the vice president of The Way now, and that would be weird...
  12. It does appear as if Garthman comes riding to the rescue during these homo debates on a regular basis..
  13. And, well, with the amount of tremendous suffering in this old world to day, I personally look forward to the day when "that which is crooked shall be made straight", where the lion shall lay down with the lamb", "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away...." -Rev. 21:4 And to that day, I say, "Come quickly lord Jesus!" Imagine it! No more ghastly mornings like 9/11, no more ghastly incidents like this devastating earthquake which when it is all said and done, will probably have killed well over 100,000 fellow humans. No more WW I's or II's, or a looming WW III, with nukes and all. No more pestilences like the Black Plague, leprosy, cholera, or today's major fear word disease, cancer. No more AIDS, MS, muscular distrophy, leukemia, heart attacks to fear, car wrecks, late night emergency room visits, calls by the police in the middle of the night when one is informed that a loved one was just killed, murdered, or raped. No more rapes, no more child molestations. No more posting of opinions on the Grease Spot Cafe, mine included! No more of these things which have at worst, directly affected us, or at the least we are constantly hearing about all of the time. Yeah, it's hard to imagine to be sure, but Some Day, this will all come to pass, and man, will it be awesome in the true sense of the word. I have an old friend who used to play electric guitar very well. He wrote a song called "Some Day". There were no words to it, but it was about the Hope of Christs' return, and when he played it with his band in a local bar, he just made that old git-tar weep, and we believers in the audience just knew what he was saying up there, and we all would have tears in our eyes as we thought of the possibility, no, the reality of what we would all share in for the rest of all eternity! And so, if, what appears to be an accelleration of horrid world events is a harbinger of our lord Jesus Christs' Return, then hey, I can dig it! For, "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed..."
  14. Ya know Vickles, I think we have finally found some serious common ground here! :)--> ;)-->
  15. Yeah, I agree Happy, we should all try to be kind and as loving as time goes on. But it would be WAY COOL if that shout and that trumpet blast were just around the corner, no? I could dig it.. :)-->
  16. Happy4me said We Americans? Oh, and I suppose that we Americans are as rotten as the many-not all-Muslims who sanction the killing of one's sister who may or may not have had sex with some guy, in order to save the "precious" honor of their Muslim father! We Americans? And we Americans force our women to wear burhkas where only their eyes can be seen, and if they show a little leg, we stone them or shoot them to death in a public square, as they used to do in Kabul before the U.S. Army and Marines arrived? Shoot, the Muslim countries (which by the way are not "American" as you distastefully mentioned us) is the most sexist bunch of animals I have ever heard of! They are particularly adept at (and I'll quote you); A truly condemned mold I might add.. Dammit, get it straight Happy, read my initial posts on this thread! I have had fine relationships with gay co-workers who even became friends! I simply do not give the lifestyle a "stamp of approval" because of my Biblical beliefs! I never said I didn't nor wouldn't love them, I never said that they should not nor will not be included in the Gathering Together. I never said that God's love is not extended towards those who have chosen this lifestyle. I have simply stated that this lifestyle is not supported in a positive manner by the Bible, and yes, that "against nature" as in Romans 1, is tantamount to "twisted" in my opinion. Sorry, it's my belief... Oh so don't state my beliefs? Ok, then don't state yours. Then there will be no ruffled feathers I guess, and the waters will be calm, and we'll all get along with no problems... Remember, this is a discussion forum, where diverse beliefs and attitudes are expressed. Mine, nor Eagles' fits with yours, that's all...
  17. Matthew 24:3, And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? Verse 4, And Jesus answered and said unto them, take heed that no man deceive you. verse 5, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.. verse 6, And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Verse 7, For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and their shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. Verse 8, And these are the beginnings of sorrows... KJV Sound familiar?
  18. Galen? Did you really say this? Jesus yelled at and chased the money changers out of the temple, with a whip! He also called a group of pharisees a den of scorpions and a bunch of "whited sepulchres" while in the process of pointing out their error. I won't bother to find the scripture references, because I know, and you know that they are there. Yet, the majority of your post makes perfect sense. It reminds me of the verse in Romans that says, "should we continue in sin that grace should abound? God forbid....." Chuck: I never said that I didn't expect to see any homosexuals in Paradise. I have a good friend from the Corps who went back to "guys", and I am thankful to know that he is born again and will be there at the Gathering Together. I rejoice at that, for he was a fine friend, and most likely would still be so, if I could find out where he is. I never said a thing about salvation for those who choose to either go back to their homo lifestyle, or those who never leave it but accept Jesus Christ as their Lord. So don't ASSume and jump to conclusions as to what I believe. I only stated simply from the Scriptures that this particular activity-which happens to be a LARGE PART OF THIS TOPIC-is wrong in the eyes of the Bible. I pronounced no judgement for the future of those who participate in homosexuality. So, just chill, ok?
  19. Speaking of quakes, I "survived" the 7.9 quake in Alaska back in 2003. Fortunately, the epicenter was about 200 miles due north of Big Lake where I lived at the time. But it was awesome to be in that log home and feel the whole thing moving as it did. And the trees outside looked like windshield wipers! It was weird, but kinda cool too. It lasted almost a minute, which is a long time according to earthquake standards. As it began, I couldn't figure out what was going on for a few seconds, but as it dawned on me, I said the kids; "Hey kids! We're havin an earthquake! Look outside! And since we were in a log home, which structurally speaking is very sound because of the way that the logs are interlaced, we weren't in much danger. But it was kinda hairy with things falling off the shelves and all.. Fortunately there were no fatalities because the epicenter was in such a remote area. The geologist said though, that Alaska's topography was changed dramatically.
  20. And Eagle, by the way, thanks... And Shelly, aka Jessie Joe, were you ever in the Tenth Corps?
  21. So Hairy, It is "Waybrain" to have a Biblical, non positive view of homosexuality? Gee, I wonder how many millions of people there are out in the world who have never even heard of The Way ministry, who have a negative Biblical view of homosexuality. Care to take a guess Hairy? Waybrain? Geez dude...
  22. Linda Z, I was in fact addressing you, not Vickles. It was a response to your comment after Daryl gave his "we are just like you in every way that counts" speech. After he said it all, you said; " To which I responded: And, that was rude of me. Sorry. :o--> And so, that was not to Vickles, but rather to you. But maybe I was wrong. Maybe I jumped the gun? Maybe you were being sarcastic to Daryl? Maybe you gave a little "yawn" after you said "Bravo, Daryl". But I didn't read it that way. I thought you were applauding him for his brave recitation...Perhaps I was wrong, and if so, I am sorry.. And Vickles, I confess, you never did say that I couldn't post here. And Garth Patterson, you are right, Vickles never did say that I wasn't allowed to post here. I just felt a little "persecuted" for what I had posted which was in opposition to Vickles's thinking. And so, for that I am srory as well. But my opinion stands on the homo thing. And, Abigail (now let me go back and make sure that it was you who said this)....Oh yes, here it is: That is hardly the truth my dear, if you had read this thread thoroughly, you would have noticed this post that I made: And so, if you will read the first verse of this quotation, you will see that it contains God's judgement of the lesbian thing. And if you want to ASSume that I like to watch "lesbians in action", then go ahead. But I think that male and female activites in the homo world are activities that are contrary to these particular scriptures, that's all. Could I be tempted to enjoy watching a couple of lesbian chicks get it on? Sure. I'm human. But it still doesn't make it right. It is still contrary to the scriptures, God's holy Word. Not to coin an old TWI phrase, but it doesn't matter if I agree with it or not, it is still God's Word... And Abigail, I made that post exactly seven posts before your assumption that I don't take exception to the female side of the gay question. So, make sure you read things correctly before you post. I need to do that too, we all do. Passions get in the way to be sure, but it's the only way to conduct a productive disagreement... And so, Ex10, you metioned a "Can OF Worms" when you started this thread? Well, you knew, and you are right. There are still people who have serious convictions on this subject, on both sides, and you were right... Now, concerning the "acceptance of gay guys in the workplace more so than gay women in the workplace", I think some very enlightening information has been offered, and I agree with it, particularly DMiller's first post, and of course, my own earlier post. Vickles also made a great point about gay men being more in touch with women's feelings and that and I quote: Like I said before, I too have seen that. But Ex10, don't feel bad at all about "opening this can of worms", for, this is a topic that has not found a place to rest yet, and probably never will. This is America where many a diverse belief still prevails, and thank God that we still have the right to argue about it..
  23. Oh man...I saw a front page photo on CNN online yesterday of a Sri Lankan or east Indian father grieving over the body of his little son. The boy appeared to be about the age or size of my eight year old little boy. The man's face was torn with grief, and it was so terrible to see. God bless the poor man... I guess the body count is up to 33,000 now. What bothers me though, is that there are now those environmentalists who are somehow trying to blame this tragedy on the development of our modern infrastructure in the Western world. It is so preposterous to try and place this blame on modern society, that it, well, really angers me. Next thing you know, they will be blamiong it on fossil fuel production in order to try and force the US into the Kyoto Protocol aggreement which will curtail our use of fossil fuels, or, tax us more heavily for the use thereof... It seems to me that any energy expended here should be to the purpose of helping these poor people caught in this natural disaster, and not on how, or to whom, to assign the blame! "Mother Nature" is to blame. Not you or me...
  24. Sorry LindaZ,that rebuttal was intended for Vickles, but, you can read it too.. And Vickles, of course I argued these same points before, I am one of those people who believe that the Bible is God's Word and will for man. Are only those who believe otherwise allowed to post here? Am I not allowed to express my opinion here? And, don't accuse me of de-railing this thread, for it was ExWay Daryl who said: To which I took acception, to which a couple of people disagreed, to which I further disagreed. And so goes the continuous exchange of ideas and dialogue at the Greasespot Cafe, be the exchanges happy and without conflict, or contentious and not so happy...
  25. I didn't make that judgement, God did. Romans 1:26 And for this cause God gave them up to vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Verse 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet (adequate). And even as they did not like to (emphasis added) retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things that are not convenient; Verse 29; Being filled with all unrighteousness , fornication, wickedness, covetnousness, maliciousness (emphasis added)," and on and on and on... And so, you think that I am doing the "judging"? I think that is fairly clear that the Almighty has already done that through His Word!~ Oh, but you do not have the same attitude to the Written Word that I do....Well, if you do in fact believe that the Bible is Gods' Word, then how can you argue this point Vickles? But then again, maybe you don't think of the Bible as God's Word. And if you don't, I respect your decision to give the queer thing a "pass" when it comes to God's judgement. But if you do have respect for God's Word, how can you give this thing as "pass"? God says; And if somemething is "against nature", it is " TWISTED!! ".
