I hung out with Tom for a bit in the DC area, just after the big split in 89/90. He was very apologetic to me, apologized for being a d*ckhead to me on a number of occasions that I reminded him of, and, he was genuine. We laughed alot, and he was wonderful. He was very thankful to just be a "regular person" again after "all of that." And yet, he is still a way more "proper fellow" than I, in that I wear not much more than blue jeans and tee-shirts, and he wears his dungarees, or nice slacks, and a cardigan sweater, even if he is doing "labor" type work. But that's okay with me, for we are all very different as humans... "Slacks?" Ugghh! I hate the thought of the very word! But, that's why I live in Alaska... And, I will add, even though many of you may think that he should contact everyone who he had hurt, I say that the man deserves to "move on" and make something of his life. When he had the opportunity to apologize to me, he siezed on it, and did so with much heart and love. And believe me, I was confrontational! And yet, he was very humble and apologetic. And so, should he spend the rest of his life seeking out everyone whom he had offended? Hell, he could spend a life time. But at least to me, he, when our paths crossed in such a unique way, he made sure to let me know that he was sorry. I think he is a good guy now, like so many of you all are NOW...

See Me. My heart is with you, and for the deliverance of your daughter from that hurtful time. May the God of all comfort bless you and bring you all peace and comfort...

Yeah, those were some really fun times. I had been a WOW that year in Los Angeles, and I had been wearing a "I'm Going" button for a long time, because I really wanted to make that scene. And I did, and for me, it was a great time. My twig there was really cool and we all really loved each other. One gal in my Twig was this really sweet girl who was only sixteen, and had just won the "Miss Kentucky" contest, and her name was Jane Wiggs. She was a sweet and wonderful flower, a child of God, and we all treated her with the utmost respect. And, I spose, what I loved most about PFAL 77 was the music and tyhe fellowship.... Yeah, I know, I still have that "head in the clouds cult head mentality" I spose...But I so loved so many of the times I had back in dem days...

TLB: Don't forget to try and find a copy of the PFAL 77 album. It was a two record album, and there was some nicely done stuff on it. One of my favs is "The Cheecken Or The Egg", and also Joe Fair singing Like An Eagle...

Speaking of a wah wah pedal, I wonder if you folks can help me. My son, a budding guitarista, with a penchant for thrash metal, would no doubt be happy with a new "gizmo" to use with his new (well used but new to him) Ibanez electric guitar. Are "phase shifters" still cool? Or wah wah pedals? Socks, and all the rest of youz, what would you suggest I get for the lad?

Ther go the ships, and the levithan whom thou hast made to play therein....Psalm 104 Yeah, I always thought that a leviathan was a whale. My Dad told me this a long time ago as well. And so, the "spirit of leviathan?I never could figure that one out. I think I remember that a person who had the spirit of leviathan had a "thirst that could never be quenched" or something like that. Had to do with thirst and alcohol. Maybe because whales drink alot of water? But, I do believe in devils though. The scriptures are clear that one third of God's angels became devil spirits, and, I have cast them out in Jesus name and have had them snarl and speak to me and it is scary as ..... But, greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world, and God's love and power prevailed. And, I used to get posessed at night when trying to sleep. It wasn't until I learned the power in the name of Jesus Christ that I was able to successfully overcome the spirit or spirits that would mess with me when the dark of night came along, with me alone in my bed with my fear. Yeah, they are real. Another spirit we were taught about was a "perverse spirit", which VP said was the type of spirit that cause people to riot, as in the "mob mentality" thing. And then there was another spirit that caused people to be "accident prone", but I forgot the name of what that one supposedly was...

Well, One Day, the King Of Kings will come back and set things straight. And who knows? Maybe it is sooner than we might think? There certainly are "wars and rumors of wars", which according to the new testament, wil be happening in the last days when "perilous times shall come". And then every knee shall bow, and God, the ultimate and supreme power will sort out the wheat from the chaff. My comments about "nuking them" are not my true sentiments. I just get really frustrated by these people who could simply begin to live and prosper if they would just "shut up", quit their religious "bitching", lay down their arms and do as Rodney King asked. But, they just won't, and things will simply have to play out as God has layed it out in His Word. And , there is no getting around it, it's going to happen as has been prophesied, but, it's still so frustrating to watch it happen, because it is awful and sad, and tragic, and heart rending.... :(

Ya know, I really believe that they are members of a death cult. Like you said in so many words; "Where is the outrage amongst the Muslim Majority?" Well, there is none. And the reason why is because they are all fanatics. It's just that some are more fearful to act as their "more comitted brethren" do. And then again, maybe they are just waiting in the wings to help "overthrow the Infidel" once the more comitted open that door. Ya know, a friend of mine asked me tonight; "And so, if we nuke the sonsof biotches, what are they gonna do? Hate us?" Sheeit, they already hate us and wish death upon us and dish it out whenever they can, and I think that we have only begun to see what these Islamis will do... I love playing the Red Strat, Mexican or no. I wish I could hook it up to a huge amplifier with a thousand watts, place the amp, me and the Red Strat on Top of Mount Juneau, or Mt. Roberts here in Juneau, and blaze away! I know some cool blues licks. I fake a few people out, somewhat...Would be cool, no? But really, I have always had this fantasy of being at the top of some big hill, and either blowing my harmonicas, or playing some really cool blues sounds on a LOUD electric guitar... Yeah Sprawled, I did change it. I just decided to not be so inflammatory, out of respect for you. I believe I even had the word "wrong" italicized for emphasis. But, when I saw it, I realized it was inflammatory, and would then therfore be flaming. And, I don't want to do that anymore. I used to around here, but, I have come to like a lot of these people, even though we do not always agree. Peace out Brother... :)

Well, the simple truth is, that your assessment is, is, well, not correct. A handful? I Think Sunesis's synopsis of the deal is quite accurate, and worthy of consideration. But I will agree that by the time I was ordained, there was so much carnal thinking about it, it was really sad. The night I was ordained (the last time in TWI 1 when the tent almost caved in), I cannot tell you how many of my peers ("friends") were totally perplexed with my being part of that group. One gal came up and said; "Jonny", how come you were ordained? You were only running a Twig Area last year! Are you gonna be the LC of Alaska or something?" Another friend of mine was completely green with envy because he had "undershepherded" me, but then I was ordained and he wasn't. It was amazing to me. While walking into the Big Top with all of the "robed people", I remember one couple (who were already Corps grads way before me) looking at me and his wife pointing at me in a *%^#*ed off manner, and exclaiming; "You?!" And then looking at her husband with a look of dismay... Yeah, it was really weird, because there really was so much carnal thinking by this time. I really was thinking; "What doest thou here Elijah?" But amongst our bunch there were some great people, who are still wonderful to this day...

Oooh! CC, I had a major run in with him (D.A.) only a few years back. But, his brother, S.A. and I remain almost "blood brothers" to this day... Also, I'd like to see some cocky som bee try and drop kick "Fort Wayne Cl*pp"! Now that guy had/has a heart for God's people! Ya know, personally, I think that some of the comments on this thread are ph uck ed up. Somebody here said that "most of the clergy were or should be dropped kicked or whatever. Shoot man, that's just bs. What about Rev Socks? Not that he would ever go by that title, but, back in the day, he was a very kind soul. I remember him at the Marin County Civic Center in 1977 when I was there as a WOW, I saw him comitt an act of kindness that was a very nice thing to see... Point being; There were a lot of "clergy" who were kind and loving people. People who, just like so many of us here who "wanted to make a difference". Drop kick 'em? Sure some were pricks, and I can name a few to be sure, but there were a helluva lot of fine people who were "ordinated" who just wanted to help. David Cral*y is another one who comes to mind. Ya know, I think it's a cool show. I like music, play some, and I like to sing too. Yes, I like to do karioke (why couldn't those Koreans picked a better name for it?!) with my wife. My wife and I even do harmony duests together, which blend nicely. And so, to see people get up on stage which I know to be really scary, is fun to see. And yes, although, I have never watched an episode with all of the really bad "talent" (I have only seen previews with some clips of the terrible singing), it really is hilarious to watch. Yes, Belle, you put it perfectly; "Where are these people' true friends??" But, I am never hooked into TV enough to know when the dang show comes on, and then end up missing it. We watched it maybe last year? When some gal beat out this long curly haired white boy. He had brown hair. And now, the question: How many of you faithful fans actually call in and vote for who you think should be kicked off or whatever? Or is it just a vote for who you want to continue on, leaving the other(s) voted off? I have friends who actually do this. Amazing to me. Is it like a nine hundred number where you pay per minute to make the call? And if so, who gets the money? The poor ones who got voted off the first night? And so, who here votes? Also, correct me if I am wrong, but I heard somewhere that Britney Spears is a "product" of Star Search. Is true? Not my kinda music at all, but, if she did make it in that way, I guess that's good, although, I am not a fan of "Pop Tarts".

Yes Radar, that was way weird. No doubt. I am just trying to be a stickler on accurate reporting, that's all. The whole thing was WTFW*. Glad it's all in the past.... And yes! DMiller that is in fact the picture I was after! I have caught many many Dolly Parton trout! Er...Dolly Varden Trout... But I never knew of the connection between the original "Dolly Varden" and how this beautiful trout got it's name! Until now. Kewel... *way too effing weird

Geez JustLoafing, you are really hostile man! But yeah, concerning that meeting (not the November one), I have heard of the same "measures" that are spoken of here, that DEW was kept away from main stage so that he would not interrupt.... I only took acception to those who said there was a GUN at the November meeting when I saw no gun. Things either happened the way they happened, or they did NOT. I just do not like "manufacturing incidents" that did not actually happen when they in fact did not, in order to propound one's opinion. At the November meeting (which this thread focuses on), there was NO GUN incident. But I do know for a fact, that the "security thing" which included CG and his hand gun were things that were real at the time. He was big on the security thing. My opinion on alla that was; "Well geez, if we are walkin with "all nine all the time", whaddya need a gun for?" But, silly me, for thinking that "God was actually still in the Picture....."

Ya know, funny you should mention that. Becuz.....I was up in Anchorage, AK years and years ago at the Gary King Sporting Goods store (no relation, though he claimed it when he was the Limb guy here), and there was a large, stuffed, Dolly Varden trout hanging on the wall, that had been, shall we say, "altered". Yeah, you guessed it. This trout had been altered to where it had very large breasts, nipples and all. And underneath the mount, on the plaque was the inscription "Dolly Parton Trout". Hey I wonder if there is a picture of that "trout" out there on the net! I'll check...Here's some info (stuff I just learned!), but no picture of the "Dolly Parton Trout". So Who or What Is Dolly Varden? And Other Fish Tales.. The original Dolly Varden is a character in the Charles Dickens's novel "Barnaby Rudge" and was well known as being quite flirtatious wearing her flashy attire and colorful dresses one of which was green with pink polka dots. Dolly Varden's Reputation ~ A Classic Case of Not Knowing The Whole Story Somehow the name was passed on to a fish from the Artic Char Family who has the same flashy appearance. Dolly Varden are dark in color with light colored spots. The Dolly has been given a rather unsavory reputation, though quite unjustifiably so. It was originally thought that Dolly Varden was a "trash fish" and a threat to the salmon population. The char supposedly ate salmon fry and eggs and was blamed for the decline in salmon population. There was actually a bounty put on their tails and somewhere around 6 million were killed and discarded between 1921 & 1940. Anglers were paid for the tails. The U.S. Bureau of Fisheries later discovered most of the tails were from trout and coho salmon, so they stopped the program. Do you get a lot of good fishing in while you wait? Yes! Salmon. Lots and lots of them. And Dolly Varden trout. And halibut. great big ones. The biggest one I have hauled in was a 260 pounder. But, that was a halibut I "caught" while commercial fishing on a long liner. But man oh man, I harpooned him with a harponn that had a tip that came off with a lanyard on it, and then we hauled in in by line and then gaffed him and hauled him aboard and then the skipper shot him with .357 magnum (the gun!) and put a hole in the deck of his own boat, the numbskull!

Speaking of bass players, have you ever heard of Laura Love? Man, the woman can play bass like I've never heard before! And I know that there are some great ones out there, but I do believe that she rates way high. And she has these awesome vocals that are astounding. It's kind of hard to describe her sound. It's sort of a "Seattle thing", or at least is well known and popular in Seattle. A mix of Celtic/African/blues/jazz. She refers to it as "Afro-Celtic". It is very hard driving and totally unique, well, unique at least to me anyway. The album that has the songs that we know so well are on her "Laura Love Collection" CD. If you can download the song "If You Leave Me Now", you can hear that awesome bass, and the song "Less Is More", her vocals are so nice. She is known for her unique sound and vocals, but when I heard her live in Haines at the Summer Solstice/Southeast Alaska State Fair (our local hippies there love her), it was her bass playing that literally shocked me it was so incredble.
