  1. And so, is Lake Donner some man made lake that is now having a birthday? Is Lake Donner near Donner Pass in California?
  2. Well the work day is done and soon we'll be having grilled Porterhoue steaks, baked sweet potatoes (not yams), and a nice salad. All of it accompanied with a couple of Alaskan Amber Beers. http://www.alaskanbeer.com/ And later Ice cream and cake, although I don't think I'll have much for I think I will be full! And, the coolest thing happened to day! There was a pod of Killer Whales just off the shore of the custom home I am sheetrocking. I have seen them before, but today it was extra special. And what was really cool was that the kid working with me, 28 years old and born and raised here in Juneau, had never seen Killer Whales before! So, cool for him. He did tell me that he has been a "video gamer" for the longest time, and so, I told him that maybe he should "step away from the joystick" a little more often... Anyhoo, thanks again you all.... Jonny Lingo
  3. Why thank you, thank you, thank you! And on my big day (I'm forty nine), I get to go and hang sheetrock all day. But at least I can still do it! Definitely not as fast as I was when I was but a ute, though... Thanks all, really...
  4. Oh man George, south of Houston? Must be way hot in the summer, with all of that humidity. I was in Houston once. I was on a Sea-Land Container ship that I signed on at some place called Jacintoport. Isn't there a big monument in San Jacinto, a monument to the Texicans victory over Santa Ana? I remember taking a picture of it when we sailed past it. And Wayfernot, It would have been the 86/87 year. I remember a really nice "new guy" from Sierra Leone that was part of the fellowship, and I think Pat Z*bel was thebc or whatever.. And Thanks Purple Moonbeam. Cool name! And DMiller, "Zaka muka! Ngiku zololay! Ozala kamoto" is a phrase in Native Zairean language. I learned it from Andre Zakompani and Roger Lutambi, two Guys from Zaire who were in the Corps with us. The language is called "Tikongo" which is a type of a jungle language called "Lingala". And it means, something you no doubt have heard before: "God bless you, I love you, you are the best!"
  5. And so George, are you actually in Amarilla? Heve you ever eaten "The Big Texan"? You know, that Big Steak at that restaurant where Wayne Clapp allegedly at the whole thing, asked for a beer and some pie, and angered the manager? Yeah, I remember hitching through there on my way to LEAD and going through a major snow storm..... Porphyra Selenafeggos: What a name! What does it mean? And, where in Texas are you moving?
  6. NLL You are right Alaska is stunning. I have lived up here for 18 years, and I will keep a nice piece of property that we own in Haines http://www.pbase.com/wolfwehnert/image/6303347 But, I am five thousand miles from my family, and particularly, my Mom, my four kids's Grandmother who is 85... And Wayfernot, I have a good pal who was sent to Midland as a WOW. St*ve B*rd*n I went to visit him there, and damn was it desolate, like you said. The Amarillo/Canyon area is not like Odessa. They actually have "winter" there, unlike down around Austin an places south of there, and I have spent considerable time there and driving back and forth from the Oklahoma panhandle town of Texhoma. We lived in Texhoma for a year and a half. And that's Texhoma, not to be confused with Texoma down by the Red River, north of Dallas. So, I am familiar with the area. And I speak purdy good Espanol also. And umm, thank you all very much for your input, and Doojable and EX10, you are so cool to be nice to me and welcome me to the Great State of Texas, should we make the move! You too Strange Tom. I am somewhat of a butt head around here some times, and so, thanks for the kindness.... And Dooj, where in Tejas are you?
  7. Well, Mrs Lingo and I are in fact going to go down for an exploratory veezit as a matter of fact... And yeah being away from the ocean will be kinda weird. I love the Sea... And have I been to Canyon? Well, I have hitch hiked through there four different times on my way to LEAD and back twice...I seem to remember Hereford better though, in that we were stuck there for hours and hours until the sun finally came up. The people down there treated us pretty good at a cafe where we got some coffee and broke into my "ten dollars". Never been treated so royally in all my life....'bout froze to death... And we'd work out of there where my brother in law has his newly purchased seven acres and steel building/shop/warehouse. And it may be a purdy good drive over to New Mexico, but there's lots to do over there, and the Sangre De Christos are not so far from all of that. Alamosa, the Purple Pig Saloon... We are going to go down the weekend after Memorial Day Weekend. That will be our Las Vegas trip, "redirected".
  8. Aiy carrumba! Gracias Dios por la familia de El Evan!
  9. Well ya know, if I were in Texas, I would be closer to my Strange friend Tom..... But, for us, there would be a lot of economic sense to it. We earn $3000.00 a month from a source other than our income from working, but 2/3d's of that goes to our $2000.00 a month housing expenses. My brother in law down in Canyon, TX just bought a house for his son for only $123,000.00, and the house is new, three bedrooms, and is on two acres. A similar house here in Juneau would cost no less than $300,000.00 We own a house in Haines, AK, that we could sell for $230,000.00, but only owe $125,000.00 on. With that hefty profit, we could move to TX, put a hefty chunk down on a piece of property with a nice new house, and have low low payments compared to what we have to pay here. It would kinda be like: "We went to Alaska to find the gold, and now that we have it, now we go back to the "Sunkist Santa Clara Valley", and live "more betterly" because of the profits. And besides, the cold and the damp has been rough on Mrs. Lingo's scoliosis. I mean to tell ya, she is a living barometer to be sure. If a wet cold front is coming, she knows the day before. Headaches, back pain, the works. And so maybe it is time. Time to come on back down. But geez, all of those damned people! Seems kinda scairy. Plus, it ain't civilized down there! There's mother rapers an father stabbers, and tornadoes and floods, and hurricanes an probly himmicanes too! And then there's traffic! We get upset around here if we have to sit at a light for more than a coupla minutes. But then again, there is music down in Austin, and even though I hates "opera" , I could at least say that "there's an opera goin on up in Amarilla....." Shoot, I dunno. So many pros and cons it seems. I do like the idea of goin swimmin in a windmill water tank or even floating down the San Marcos River on an inner tube. Didja know that people do that all of the time? And that there is a bus shuttle service picking up inner tubers to take 'em back to their cars? And on one of those Texas lakes, there is a "barbecue float" where you can pull up with your boat and "order up" a fine mess of ribs.... Or, Temple Lady, has Cabin Fever finally taken me under? Am I down for the count? It's just been so damned cold and wet here in Southeast, that I think it's gittin to me finally.....
  10. I have been offered a job by my brother in law who owns a successful business selling steel building packages. He wants me to sell for him, for, he says; "You have the gift of gab". I would sorely miss Alaska, and all of the fresh sea food, the sport fishing and hunting, the bears in the yard, the eagles overhead, and evn that lonely old local wolf. But, I could experience sunshine, and thunderstorms! And the smell of sage bushes after a rain! I could get another horse or maybe two! And there'd be snakes, and lizards to catch, and all of that cool stuff! And my kids could experience swimming in a pool Outside, or go inner tubing down a river, and my wife could get her sexy tan line back! Yeah, I am seriously considering it to be sure...Yeah, down in Canyon Texas, near the Palo Duro...
  11. "Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name!" I'm...............................................................Sneezy Picklehump

I e-mailed there at that site once a long long time ago, and came up with them. But then I moved and got a new computer again, and lost the e-mail addy. But now I have found them again. Thanks Ca Dreamin... Just google Sides's name I guess Eagle...

    A Joke

A buxom blonde beauty from Dallas walks into a Vegas casino to roll some dice. And with her sweet Texas accent says to the two "dice attendant guys"; "Hey there you handsome boys, I'd like to roll some dice for that big old pot of money there". And the dice guys grin and say; "Why certainly ma'am". But then the gal says; "But, gentleman, ahh do have one request: Would you mind if ahh took off all my clothes before I roll? I just believe that ahh have a little more luck when ahh roll my dice naked". And she winked at them as they agreed that it would be perfectly okay with them. And so, she steps out of her clothes and into her birthday suit with her bodacious ta ta's most prominantly displayed, and rolled the dice. And when the dice stopped, she began jumping up and down jiggling and squealing with delight saying "Ahh won ! Ahh won! Ooh! ahh am soo lucky today! Ahh won! Ahh won!" as she bends way over the table and scoops up her big pile money and hands them back their dice. And so, she tips the attendants, and with her clothes in one hand and money in the other, walks off through the casino under the admiring gaze of the many gamblers in attendance. And then, the two dice attendants, startled, look at each other, and the one asks; "Hey, did you see what she rolled?" And the other guy says; "Well no, I thought you were watching!" And they realize they'd been had. And so, the moral of the story is that; "Not all blondes are dumb, but guys will always be the same..."
  15. I am an "Extreme Right Wing Leftist", but, I don't have a lawn. Is that so wrong?
  16. Umm...Yeah, I thought so. I still believe in John 14:12...
  17. Hey Dooj! Congratulations! We know the feeling, for we too have our "quiver full"! And your daughter is beautiful! And I'll bet she didn't get those good looks just from Papa! :) :)
  18. When will GS Radio air? I am afraid I have been remiss in getting up to speed on this. I didn't really think it was a "real" thing. How would one tune into GSRadio?
  19. And soooo, the word for "girls" in Australia is "sheila". Or, is it "shiela"? "Hey mate, let's g'down town and see if we can pick up a coupla sheilas! And hey! There's a noice lookin sheila roight over theah!" Yeah, "smear" But that's okay NiKa, we boys can no doubt get way way out there, were we not kept in check by you lovely ladies. And boy oh boy!, "that Fellowshipper! Man is he wild!", you should see him after a few "cold ones"!

Damn! This thread is crankin up and I have still been playin hooky! I could hve been enjoyin all of this feminine attention! And so, I wanna come too. I love to go dancin, and, i can cut the carpet fairly well. I like Salsa dancing, the merinque, like in My Blue Heaven... Yeah you all sound like so much fun. And Toppie don't feel bad, truth is the only ones really being able to get together will be Dooj and Ex10. But Tom's close enough to get you a few of those Tekillya snowcones! And speaking of snow, as I clack on the keys, it is dumping snow right now, here in Juneau, Alaska. I kid you not. Yeah, here it is, April 30, nine days befor my birthday (hint hint), and it is dumping snow. Woke up at 0600, looked out our bedroom window and saw that it was just dumping! And it's still doing it, although it must have only just started, because there is only an inch. Oh brother, where art thou? Why art I in Alaska? But springtime really is here, or so we keep telling ourselves. The bears are out, the skunk cabbage shoots are poking their pretty yellow heads up http://home.gci.net/~alaskahaiku/saijiki.html , and the calender does say that it is April 30th, nine days before my birthday. And so, I guess Old Man Winter wanted to give his last gasp I guess....Tom? Need some snow fer yer cones? And also, sorry Sogwap, I just don't come here very often, sorry I missed the chat deal... Well, you all have a nice and fine Sunday. Love you all! :) JL

  25. Hey Onephile! So cool! Glad it was a fine time! Me and my WOW Sistahs were only 19 when we went out WOW in 76. We went to South Central Los Angeles, and man, what a year that was! Glad you had a nice reunion brother. Must have been fun. Take care Brother, Jonny Lingo
