  1. Danny, I don't understand that. Could you explain?
  2. Ya know, I do remember one LC up in Alaska who was my good friend, and one whom many Alaskans loved. But I also remember a conflict that arose many a time due to the way he viewed women. I have always loved to hunt and fish. My wife, whose nickname is "Shotgun Shannon" (not only because she is a formidable opponent in an argument, but is also very good at trap and skeet with a shotgun), also loves to hunt and fish. Well now, this LC would want to get together with me and a few other "territory coordinators" and want us to go fishing or hunting. But, my wife was never invited, and it always ticked her off. And it ticked me off too. Finally I asked why it was that Shannon was never invited, and the response was given in an incredulous manner. "Well, she 's a girl!" And I told him sarcastically that; "Glad you pointed that out to me. If you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known. Glad to know that I have been having sex with a woman and not a man. Now, why isn't my wife ever invited on these things?" I wasn't afraid of his "authority" or "his reverend-hood", and he knew it. We were friends first and foremost. And so he says; "Well you know, guys are guys, and when we do stuff, we can talk about guy things without worrying about offending the girls. Don't you ever just hang out with "the guys" Jonny?" And this took me by surprise, for whenever I used to go to the big meetings, and even when my wife and I get together these days with various "married couples get togethers", I always end up sitting with the gals, and talking with them. I like women. And on the other hand, my wife always likes to hang out with the boys, drink beer with them, and talk with them about hunting, fishing, and things the boys like. And the guys love that about her. She's "salty". Now, when I hang with the girls, I don't talk about "chick stuff", but I do like the conversation, and the lack of "macho competition" commonly found amongst the guys so many times. I have always been this way. I love women. My wife loves men and thinks they are cool. And so, when my LC asked me that question long ago, I told him that I rarely have just hung out "with the guys", and in this case, "my wife likes to hunt and fish as much or more maybe even than you do. And, she gets resentful at being left out". But he'd tell me that it was a guy thing in that particular case, but "maybe next time". But the next time it was the same. And I'd bring it up again then too, with the same results. And so, I just made time for me to take my wife rabbit, grouse, or moose hunting or fishing, and turned down a number of "guy outings" which surprised my LC. At one point I told him that "I actually enjoy being with my wife and having her with me in the Outdoors, don't you?" And he said; Well no, not really. Not when it's with we boys. And yet, this guy was not a poontang hound, and even told Howard Allen to his face one time that "I am not a skirt chaser like you". Shoot, this LC didn't even like dirty jokes. But he never really wanted to include the women on these outdoor kinds of things. Weird, to me. And so, I stuck up for her (my wife) most of the time, but, not all of the time. I was an obedient Wayfer ya know. But, that was always something that ticked me off. And to this day my wife, my little "Shotgun", tells me how she always appreciated that I stuck up for her. I guess though, that probably painted me as a "woosie" or something, even though it was never said to my face.
  3. And Mark Clarke. So, it was torn down eh? Oh well. I will always remember that a number of the Corps from England put their names up there, and there was this great big mural like painting of the British Union Jack flag on the bricks of the wall, accompanied by their names. I thought it cool, for, I love Nationalism. I loved it that they loved their homeland like I do mine, and seeing their flag there with their names was very heartwarming. The Irish did the same, although their flag mural deal was smaller. Maybe, the Irish did theirs first, and then the English did their second, and therefore bigger. Hah! But it was cool. And so, is the whole campus gone now Mark?
  4. You all remind me of the king salmon that cannot resist a trolled herring. Just throw it out there, and wham!
  5. Groucho, I was 22 years old then. You almost sound like a jealous man. Maybe you need to go and get yourself a job. A certain kind of a job.
  6. Hey Outhere, that story is kinda sweet. We'll have to call you two Mr. and Mrs. Mulberry. Do you two ever drink mulberry wine in commoration of your back forty mulberry times?
  7. I remember the Kipp elevator fondly as well. Although I didn't go up there for naps. It was a nice place to go with a lady friend. I remember that there were a ton of mattresses stored up there, and yes, if you had the elevator key (which worked only within the elevator itself), when you were stopped at the top and had gotten out, no one could get up there unless they climbed up the elevator shaft. It was the perfect "on campus getaway". And hey, do you remember all of the folks's signatures on the wall of the elevator shaft? Mine is on there too. I wonder if they are still there? Another cool getaway spot was in the attic of Kenyon up on the top floor. I used to go up there and open a vent like window and look to the West and I could see above the tree line and watch the beautiful Kansas sunset. That was really nice...
  8. Edited to for me to fuggedaboudit. It was long ago...

    “A”

That's very nice Roy, thank you!
  10. He and his records will always be tainted in my eyes. And, it isn't a question of whether he is "Mr. Natural" or not, is it? Wasn't it already proven that he has used performance enhancing steroids? I didn't think that was in question anymore...
  11. The Mesquites are in Collyfornya
  12. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that I "copped out", and that they think of me that way. But, since I was clergy and am no longer with The Way, I would tend to think that they would think that I was there as a "spy" or something, and what I would want to do there as a visitor would be hampered by WayGB, etc. I just wouldn't be allowed to walk around and reflect in a peaceful manner, but rather would probably be harassed or whatever... Last time I was there, I was treated royally. They sent a female "attendant" to my unit who offered me "anything that I wanted", full body massage, whatever. I've told that story already though. It was so corrupt it was sickening. I was gone from The Way within four months after that...
  13. I would like to go back, walk around, check out the grounds, take in a SNS, walk The Way Woods again, see VP's grave, etc. But not to be a part of them again. I could never do that. The problem is, if I went back for those reasons, I think I would probably be treated like crap because I am a "copped out clergyman". I wouldn't like the scrutiny at all. And so, I'll probably never go back for a visit.
  14. OMG! Had me going too! And so, Gandolfini lives?
  15. Yes! But....Then again, only two posts before, I posted that I got an 80% which is true. I just figured that I would post my third try results just for fun which turned out to be a 100% score. Thought it'd be funny and obvious. But Evan, You Da Man!! What was it? A 92%? Nice bruh. I have always loved science, but, was never much of a student. I have always loved reptiles and amphibians though, and dug it when I saw the "garter snake question". I missed four in my first attempt, which gave me an eighty. But.....Thanks man! :)
  16. 80% But, it was fun! Bummer is, I didn't realize I could check which ones I got wrong and clicked out of it too soon.
  17. [http://www.wildnatureimages.com/Brotherhood%20Park%20Sky%20L.htm Dot, those who work for the State of Alaska have a nice health care program. My wife works for them as I used to when I worked for the ferry system. I now work for a non profit organization which has a nice health care program. Both programs cover us for 80% of whatever costs may be incrued, while we pick up the remaining 20% of the cost. What is nice though, like when my son had his appendix out, is that my insurance paid the 80%, and my wife's insurance paid 80% of the remaining 20%. And so, all in all, we only paid around $700.00 for a fairly expensive operation. :) And, DMiller, I did what you said, and this is the message I got after I clicked "post". It must be something weird with my computer. But here is what I was "told":
  18. Hey! I like furry little squirrels too! And hey Ham, you remember that one? Glad you liked it! I don't think I have that one in my "My Documents". I think maybe I should try to retrieve it from this place, although I doubt I could. Do you think you could find it?
  19. Personally, when I was at Camp Gunnison with 47 other Tenth Corps in the late winter, spring, and summer of 1980, Chris Geer was very kind and thoughtful. We worked hard, played hard, and when the whole bunch of got sick from contaminated water (as did the whole town of Gunnison), CG was very concerned and outright "mothered us" until we all were better. Really, he was pretty cool to we who were there with him. One of the fun things we did was that Chris read to us the journal of a young man who had moved from the east coast and worked as a mining engineer at Ruby Camp where the Forest Queen Mine was located. A silver mine. We'd all get together in the top floor of the Barn at night and he'd just read to us. It was very fine. Sometimes, one of us would read, but mostly Chris did the reading. It was kind of like; "Wow, people used to do this for entertainment, and this is darn right entertaining and very "homey". Times I won't forget. We dug it. I know that was not the "whole of the man", but it was a "part of the man..."
  20. Hey there Eyes Open, I have written a number of stories. Maybe you could help me out? Kevin
  21. Not "Crowley", Craley, David Craley, the guy who wrote the book "The Hope Of Glory, In Search Of The Light". He was a TWI guy who used to be gay, and tells his story in that book. And in the book, he talks of doing LSD as well as describing his introduction to homosexuality, his homosexual experiences and subsequent delivery from that lifestyle. During his time in The Way, after his book was published, he became a "confidant" for those who had been gay and were still struggling with the temptation to go back to homo sex. I think though as time went on, he has returned to his former lifestyle. But, that is only what "I heard" from "somebody", so, I don't really know. If he did return to his previous homosexual lifestyle, then I would guess that he'd be looking at his book as one huge blunder huh? I think somebody here at the GSCafe used to be his wife, or maybe is his sister, so, be nice. And speaking of reefer, I saw an old acquaintence of mine, a plasterer, who was wearing a hat that I thought said; "Pipe Fitters Union Local 420". And I said to him, "Hey Kevin are you also a Pipefitter"? And he said with a grin; "Read it a little more closely". And sure enough, it read "Pipe Hitters Union Local 420". And, I got a big kick out of that. 420, hah!
