  1. I hope you do realize I wasn't serious, okay? Or, maybe you referring to the fact that one guy I mentioned was kicked out of the Corps for having spelled those two words wrong.
  2. Java Jane said: Very interesting that you said this in relation to one of my very favorite verses: I used to love to teach that verse, but, when I did, I always focused on this part : "for he that cometh to God must believe that he is", and as you put it, "that He exists". To me, that was what I figured was "first things first". God exists, and once that was established in one's heart and mind, the believing part is easy! And so, I always thought it neat (and funny too) that God would include that in this verse, because really, it is something that no doubt we as God's people always have a hard time with, just being totally sure the "He is", that He exists. And when that is clear and real to us, then the believing thing is simple, easy, nuttin to it.
  3. Very good Skyrider! Now you don't have to dio fifty push ups!
  4. "Acquire and in depth spiritual perception and awareness." "Physical training making your physical body the vehicle of the Word as vital as possible." "Go forth as leaders and workers to areas of concern interest and need". (or is that some WOW thing?) And I forget that other one besides the "material abundance to you and the ministry"... And, that is "corps, not "corpEs", for the record. I knew a guy who got kicked out of the 12th Corps for not being able to spell "corps" and "receive". So, get it right!
  5. Ya know, Johniam is right. One must believe, to KNOW God...
  6. i Well, at least we have procreation, which got us on the planet where we can see and be part of His Wonders. Without that I guess we wouldn't have anything to worry about, because we wouldn't BE.
  7. Sorry for the headache ExC. Take an Excedrin I spose...
  8. But, what about "The Four D's Of Doulos Doins"? Now that was some formula!
  9. I know Dooj, I know you were just funnin. But, just the very thought...ugghh! And Ophelia, would you be the whole saler, or just settle back into "research and Developement" with a big ol hookah pipe? :)
  10. It really was a stitch, but only after I had caught up on my sleep! Hah! And, Gladtobeout, I did a little editing for clarification after you'd read it...
  11. While in the first block of my first year in the Tenth Corps at Emporia, I remember one night our twig having bless patrol duty from like midnight to 0200. When it was the next twig's turn to come and relieve us, everyone got a relief except me. I ended up being the last one there, waiting for my replacement while my twig pals all went off to bed for a few winks before the morning run, or whatever. And so, I waited and waited, and finally, I went over to Owens hall to wake up the girl named Gail who'd obviously not woken up. And so, I went over there and up to the girl's floor to wake her up. I slipped into their room, check a number of bunks out, and finally found Gail lying in a top bunk on top of her covers. But, she was stark naked! When I alerted to this fact, I turned for the door, fairly shocked, and half ready to do her shift for her because I didn't know how to wake her up without letting her know that I just saw he naked. But then I thought, "Well screw that! It's not my fault that she slept through, it's not my fault that she's naked, and I want a little shut eye! Maybe a little embarrassment is just what she needs!" And so, I went over to her bed, and while looking down, I tapped her on her shoulder until she woke up. When she did, I told her of my mission, and that I would appreciate her getting up and relieving me. At first she was apologetic, until she realized that she was naked and that I had undoubtedly "seen her". Then she was pi $$ed and hissed at me and cussed me with some expletives. And then another gal on the top bunk next to her woke up and saw what was going on and asked what was happening, but, I was halfway to the door by then. And when she made it over to the maintenance shop, She was all hacked off at me. I just let her vent, and headed off to bed. But not before I told her that It wasn't my fault that she chose to sleep nekked in a room full of other women, and that she didn't wake herself up. And so, after that, when I would see her in class, or across the dining room, I would wink at her, and she would smile and flip me the bird. And, were also friends after that as well. Funny way to make an introduction though!
  12. If God requires believing when one prays, it does not make Him a respecter of persons. It makes Him a respecter of conditions, which He is. "Give, and it shall be given unto you". "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him who believes" -Mark 9: 23 "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them". Mark 11:24 "The fear of man bringeth a snare, but whoso puteth his trust in the lord shall be safe". Proverbs 29:25 All of these verses require conditions, and, there are oodles more. Now, if one doesn't like this, and doesn't believe that this is "right on", then the smartest thing and the most honest thing to do is to simply respond to it like George Aar has done. He thinks its all a crock of hooey. And that is fine. It is honest. George doesn't want any part of it, and that is his prerogative. Go George. But, if one is still a Christian, and wants to do what the Bible says and wants the results promised in the holy scriptures, then the requirement to believe when one prays is in fact a pre-requisite, as Jesus said. Shoot, I dunno. The Man (Jesus) said it, and so I'll trust him. He's my Big Bruh, I trust him. Now, someone mentioned that The Way taught that God was like a "santa Clause machine" or something to that effect. That you can just "pray the right way, and boom you get what you want"! Well I'll tell ya. During all of my time since I learned a little bit about God's Word and how to pray with believing, it wasn't the "stuff" that I got when I prayed (like that Buick Wildcat, like my dad's miraculous total healing from a heart attack after I prayed for him while claiming John 14:12*, and the list goes on...), but it was the joyous and unfathomable truth that The Almighty God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth would hear little old me, that He was an actual and real live part of my life! That my puny little old self would be loved and taken care of, and even thought of by El Shaddai, the Lord God Almighty! Yeah! That's the thrill that comes with an answered prayer! Not the "stuff", but that I really do have a Heavenly Father who cares. That's the thrill for me, to be sure. Works for me, and I still like it.. :) *John 14:12, "The works that I do ye shall do also, and greater works than these shall ye do, for I go unto my Father."
  13. Oh geez Dooj! The thought! Uggh! Never! Actually Dooj, I was thinking more along the lines of when Bill Clinton said that he tried pot, but didn't inhale..
  14. Unfortunately. I tried it once, but I didn't swallow. I spit it out, yuck! But a few of my friends did it and pretended (I think) to like it.
  15. I've never met one either, unless knowing Jesus counts for anything. But I do know this: "For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe". -I Thessalonians 2:13 Yeah, I like that. I think that when God says effectually worketh in you who believe, that I can trust that all of the time. And Waysider, you said: I believe that too. I never did believe in that "different levels of believing thing". "Hmm, I must believe "stronger". "Hey man, ya gotta get yer believing up there!" Never did go for that crapola. But I do believe what Jesus said about believing and prayer to be true. Call it a "law"? I dunno. But according to Jesus, it is a pre-requisite for receiving answers to prayer (Matt 21:22). I mean, he did say it for some reason, ya know?
  16. Like I said before, I don't have a label for it anymore. All I know is that what Jesus Christ said, worked for me then, and works for me now, and I am thankful. I don't know why you would ever say that about me Ex. You just don't know me I guess, and seem to want to judge me. I love the same God that you do...
  17. Has anyone seen my bong? I lost my bong. Oh there it is, and hey it didn't tip over on the carpet. And hmm, I'm thirsty. Slurp. Mmmm, love to drink bong water, especially when the "water" used is Southern Comfort. It's loaded with super charged THC ya know. Anyone else ever drink it?
  18. Craig went to a shrink? No way! For, he was "Martindale! The rainbow headband man!" "And all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive". Well now, Jesus spoke those words, and I believe them. Does that mean "believing equals receiving"? I don't know. Is this "The Law Of Believing"? I don't know. But Jesus said that if you believe when you pray, you shall (absolute tense) receive. I believe that. And so, people have asked here recently in another thread, "why would God answer one person's prayer, but not another persons?" I don't know. But, if what Jesus said was/is true, then I am willing to give God the benefit of the doubt, and suspect that the problem with the unanswered prayer came about because of some problem on the part of the human, and not because God was "being quirky". The thing that I have always enjoyed about God's Word is that it has always been a ROCK for me. Something that never changes, is always there, and always dependable. And I have always been willing to say, if things are going in a negative manner, it's gotta be me, and not Him, for God is perfect, and I definitely am not. On the other hand, I have seen extraordinary results in my life due to prayer when I have prayed with this verse in mind. Once, when I was a WOW, I prayed specifically for a car, because my "piece of sheet car" was broken down, and we needed a car to get around South Central L.A. Within the week, I invited a guy to twig, who came, and when twig was over and he had learned that our car wasn't working (because he'd asked for a ride and we couldn't give him one), he offered to give me a car that he had. He gave me the keys right there on the spot. And, it was a 67 Buick Wildcat with a 430 C.I. engine with a four barrel carburetor, air conditioning, electric seats, electric windows, whitewall tires, dual exhaust, and, it had a very nice gold paint job. The day I drove it home, I took him and my WOW family cruising on the Sunset Strip and Hollywood Boulevard. We had a blast. We called it our "Ephesians 3:20 Car". And, I had spoken aloud throughout the time after I prayed for it that "it will be great to be driving that car God is going to supply for me". And, it happened sure as you're born. It was a trip man, and we were all blown away by it and it totally boosted our moral and our confidence in God and His Son Jesus Christ. And so, was that "The Law Of Believing"? I dunno. I thought so then, but today I don't know what you'd "label" it. Was it believing equals receiving?" Again, I dunno. I believed that then though. But maybe I don't call it that today. Haven't thought of that "label" in a long time, really. But, am I happy to have learned that I could pray like that? Yes I am, and I endeavor to pray like that to this day. I am glad to have learned that while I was in The Way. And, there are numerous verses of Scripture where Jesus talks about how faith and believing is in fact a pre-requisite to getting prayers answered. I dunno what we should label it, but, I am thankful to have had that pointed out to me. Now, some may think that I am being a "Way apologist" here, but I am not. Some may say; "Well, you could have learned that many other places". And this is true, but let's not get off the track, for we are not talking about that, really. I think we are talking about this TWI labeled "Law" of believing. I don't know what to call it once again, but the Bible is loaded with many specific instructions that if we are to receive, we must first believe. It's pretty straight forward, really. And there are numerous examples in the Bible of that same pre-requisite to receiving things from God. The gospels are loaded with examples as Jesus himself demonstrated. And that, I can trust. I can't trust myself, but I can trust God's Word to be true, and that gives me great hope and comfort. Anyway, food for thought... :)

I Point well taken Tonto. However, I don't think it was about being "cheap". I think the hitch hiking part was about the challenge that it provided. I mean, I believe that they believed that, misguided as it may have been. Sure there was money saved. But, I think that it was done that way to provide a real challenge, just the way that Special Forces (Green Beret Navy Seals, etc) use live ammunition during training exercises, which is very very dangerous. Now, mind you EVERYBODY WHO IS READING, I am not endorsing that idea as a good idea, I am only saying that I think that having us hitch hike had more to do with the challenge, then it had to do with saving money, that's all.

Wow, Kathy awesome post, really. It's kind of like; "If you spout all of the horrors that you endured, "Welcome to the Club." And if you do not, but speak of the positive times, it's like "Shut up! Get out of here! You are pi$$ing on our pity parade! You are ruining our "work" here!" And, like I said before, I know that there were negative aspects of The Way, some of which resulted in down right tragedies. I acknowledge that to be sure. But I also think that there were some very fine things that came my way during my tenure in The Way. And about those, I will speak. And, I have spoken of a number of the things that were incredibly negative and hurtful to me. But maybe those things aren't remembered, because the positive aspects that I have related are way more hated here by SOME, than the negative situations I have spoke of which are simply "embraced". Geez, there just has to be something really twisted about that scenario. "Pee on the positive, and embrace the negative". Maybe there really is something wrong with our "scale of values....."
