What do you mean by "remained dysfunctional"?
-
Thanks for your thoughtful response Socks... "eso si que es?" Isn't that Spanish for something? And yes, Pawtucket, I will always love Ann Marie and be thankful for her life. In fact, I have a son named Riley, and Ann Maries' maiden was taken into consideration when Riley was named. If you see her, just tell her the incident, and she will know who I am. My wife also knows her because they were in the Corps together... And Word Wolf, I could say that my memories of being on the field were definitely ther best, but then again, I have some superb memories when I was in residence with Ex 10 and the Tenth Corps as well.. I think that the first time I ever saw a major flaw in the Way (and it had nothing to do with sex) was the time I came back from being a WOW. A good friend of mine and I who had both undershepherded Harvey Platig when he was a new guy (I knew Harvey when he was "the new kid up the street" back in 6th grade) were standing under the big top auditorium while Harvey was giving his crowd pleasing "Valedictorian WOW speech" designed to get more people to go WOW. Harve was up there and the crowd was just roaring as he talked of the twelve classes they had run that year in Florida. And when he was done, the crowd jumped to it's feet, and VPW came out and gave him a big hug. At that point, my friend, the guy who had undershephered me says with great dismay; ".... Jonny, look at Harvey. He's only been in the Word for two years, and he's already on main stage!" And instead of reaming him a new a**hole, I hung my head too and thought about my WOW year and how I had "failed" compared to Harvey's "numbers". After that, I had a jilted idea of what it meant to please God, and slipped into the idolatrous ways of glorifying myself instead of God. Oh, I did alot of things out of the Love Of God, and there were wonderful times, but at other times I didn't, and strove to "prove myself" as a leader and all of that jazz. But when I look at it now, it was just a simple (yet very consequential) breach of Ist Corinthians 13, a breach that I ALLOWED by disobeying the scripture. I think alot of us did this actually...But I don't think of it as having been brain washed, but rather us just being people doing the old man nature thing and falling prey to wanting the recognition from other humans instead of our "already obtained recognition from God"...

And nice to see you too Ex 10! Hope all is well with you and yourn. Happy New Year! Well, he mighta said; "Gigs up CGand we fu**ed up an we better try to make some sorta ammends"... Obviously it (POP) didn't save anything, whatever they were trying to do, but as in my post after your post to me, there was still something there for me and many others that fit the bill and filled an obvious void at those times in our lives.. I just don't think that It started out with the purpose of being a "sex farm". It may have become that way, but I don't think it started that way..

And I guess, according to Shazzdancer, I am in "denial" because I do not believe I was hoodwinked as she says. Well, I have to disagree. I know without a doubt that the Almighty called me to The Way Ministry. One night I was on my knees in the wheelhouse of the restaurant boat I worked on and asked God to send me a Christian person to tell me about Jesus. I made a promise to Him that very night that if He would send someone to me, I would serve Him. That very next morning as I was readying the vessel for our luncheon cruise, a bright and shining young woman with flaming red hair came to work aboard as a cocktail waitress. When I asked her about her New York accent, she smiled and said that she was from New York, but that she had come to teach people about the accuracey of God's Word and about the power of God. And I asked her if she meant the Bible and Jesus Christ? And she said emphatically; "Yes!" Then I told her of how I had been on my knees the night before asking God to send someone, and; "Here you are!" And she said that she had been in the park praying a half hour before to be able to meet someone who wanted to know about God's Word, and; "Here YOU are!" And right there on the spot we hugged eachother, and I proceeded to pour my heart out to her, and she began to fill that void with God's Word and God's love. And then I went to Twig that night, and thus began my own 15 year experience w/ The Way. Ya know, I just don't think God woulda sent Ann Marie O'Reilly Romaine (7th Corps) to witness to me and involve me in The Way if there wasn't something there worth being a part of. I have no doubt that God has a sense of humor, but I don't think He plays "cruel jokes". So, I don't think I was hoodwinked or mind controlled by VPW. When things got ugly and changed, I believe God guided my wife and myself right on outa there and here we are, happy and blessed. And we don't even fellowship with any "offshoots" for that matter..

I believe that when VPW went to Scotland just before he died and talked to Chris G**r, that alot of what he did was confess his many sins to CG. I think that he knew that he blew one of the neatest things going. Yeah sure, maybe he should have confessed it to all of us, and to particular individuals whom he had personally hurt. But maybe he thought that keeping the "cat in the bag" and keeping the sordid details out would have helped the bigger picture. Maybe he thought that the "cat would stay in the bag" if it was handled discreetly. It seemed as if that was what the original plan was-until Craig blabbed it all at that Corps and Staff meeting. Remember that? And gave us that veiled death threat if WE blabbed? Huh! What a friggin joikoff..And remember, after that, it spewed across all the telephone lines and it was OVER. My wife "shadowed VPW about six times and spent many hours with him in his coach, yet he never once hit on her, and she's durned purdy too! So like Linda Z said, this stuff was news to me, although I also learned from Sunesis (among others) that he was a constant "booty hound". And also like Linda Z said, PFAL and The Way for me were just what this screwed up 17 year old kid needed to put me on the track with God and God loving people like yourselves. I definitely had some of the very best times of my life in dem days... So maybe he tried to confess to some degree just before he died....

Yeah, what Linda Z said...

EXPLICIT: A Frank Discussion of Sex...
J0nny Ling0 replied to Zixar's topic in The Birds and the Bees
Hey Brady, it doesn't surprise me that this thread interests you, you Cubanzo stud you! Yeah, sex is great. I really love it, and can't seem to get enough of it. It is really powerful stuff, and, even though I am now 46 years old, I still really love it. I now have a sixteen year old son who is very handsome and witty (a chip off the old block!), who has now entered into the "intense testosterone zone", and I hope that he stays a gentleman when being involved in this world of men and women which has some of the "highest of highs, and lowest of lows". I certainly pray to God that my son understands that "with every female, there is also a heart that yearns for love, understanding and ultimately, God" and that they must be treated with respect. There really are no "no strings attached" relationships, and I hope he can figure that out. However, he is a "guy", and sometimes we are very dense when it comes to figuring that out... Jonny Lingo So Brady, tou gotta be wonderin just who this is...drop me a note in private topics... -
EXPLICIT: A Frank Discussion of Sex...

Well, as far as monogamy goes, why not just have more than one wife?! -
I had an Irish Terrier named "Marf" A German Shorthair named "Mr. Starbuck" (named after the 1st Mate in Moby Dick, NOT the coffee) Another German Shorthair named "Rhino" A German Wirehaired Pointer named "Salty". He was way cool and a fine purebred. But, he was stolen. His full name was "Darkwing Salt Of The North"- he came from Darkwing Kennels, u-c And Rottie Grrl: Surely you must know that in the world of dog breeding and training and such, there is no other way to describe a female dog other than to call her a "bitch". It just isn't done any other way. The negative form of the word, when referring to "not so friendly female humans" is the slang, and came after the original use of the word when referring to a female dawg. Kinda like how the word "gay" was twisted to mean a "sexual lifestyle" instead of just being "outwardly frivolous and happy". I think you are right about the word "Dam", as in a the mother dog who whelped the pups. I believe that in the "dog breeding world", all female dogs are "bitches", but not all bitches are "dams" unless they have pups. My wife and I have been around a lot of German Wirehair Pointer breeders and trainers lately, and it does seem a little weird when I hear them use the word "bitch" so freely....

Hey there Not In Kansas Anymore (your name is too long! Call you Dorothy? Dotsie?), anyway, I was noticing the quote at the end of your post: "Be Just And Fear Not". Ya know, I used to have a red tank top shirt that a friend of mine gave me that had that motto on it. The shirt came from the USS Hewitt-DD-966, a US Navy Destroyer, and that was her (the ships) motto. Or was that an over all motto in the Navy, or, did you make it up your self? Just curious...

Page 101?! You Ninth Corps guys are wild! Hi there Fellowshipper! You mean you gave up the Pall Mall Reds? From whom now will I bum them? And Excath, I know I am intruding here because I am a grad of the "Decade Doulos Corps", but you gave me a serious chuckle with your name combining thing..."Marcia Lamb Bullocks kid"...Hahahahaha. That was, not just "so-so" but rather....funny

I was on the computer one day, and I blurted out that I hate popups. But my wife said with a sly grin that she loves popups, especially in the morning. But she has numerous cures to make those popups go away, and frankly, I love the way she handles the problem, no matter how big it always seems to be...

The Ubiquitously Hidden Teaching of VPW

Hi Mike. -
I don't get it JOhn. I can see that this is the back of a Corps, WOW, or AC name tag, but I don't get it...

Just what IS IT with you "THE CULTISTS"?! I have looked through the various "THE" threads, and you all have me completely mystified. What is "THE"? Honestly, Jonny Lingo

Trefor. Perhaps my best friend in the Corps was Miceal Adams, from Dundalk Ireland. He was 12th Corps. He and I were as close as brothers could get. On Lightbearers, we almost beat the crap out of some Iranians who were desecrating the American flag down in Oklahoma. We got right in their faces, gave them the finger inches from their noses and told them that if they didn't stop that we'd hurt 'em bad. Well, they stopped. Great fun, that! And we shared the Word with a lot of people and it was grand. We also drank beer at a little Okie bar (Okie-slang for Oklahoman) where there was actually a Snooker table. Our friendship continued until the break up of TWI I, and sadly, he chose to stay, and I was kicked out for my lack of allegience to LCM. It was a tearful parting. A brother type friendship smashed by religion. I heard he was ordained, and I last heard he was still in New Zealand as the country coordinator. I know some people who recently left the TWI down in NZ, and they were treated very harshly by Miceal when they chose to leave. His wife's name is, Felicia Purpora Adams, also of the 12th Corps. I gotcha too Alfakat! I used to be pals with one of your sisters too. The one with the different colored eyes. What sweethearts! And say Alfakat, I too would like to know the whereabouts of Bo and Val Linneman. A private topics note maybe? I used to do music with them in the Corps. What fine people, and so musical!

Excathedra, I left you a private message. JL

Linus and Sue Mathis is in Palmer with their two kids Linus IV, and Lydia. L IV is thirty five though, and newly married. Kevin and Shannon Nye are in Haines, AK with their kids. Gerry and Casandra Byrne are in Eagle River as is also Molly Morris Erickson. Paul Marmora and his wife are in Anchorage as is also Chris Dietrich. Maureen Dilly is somewhere in Anchorage I think, and so is Mike Smith. Steve Lowder has recently move to Arizona. Big George "Handcrusher" Sandlin is still in Delta Junction with Kay. I don't think any of these people are with The Way any more. The only one running an organized offshoot of TWI is Linus Mathis. I and my family participate there once in awhile, and it is very nice. It's called Frontier Christian Ministries.

Do You Play Any Musical Instruments?
J0nny Ling0 replied to Zixar's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
Ya know, that's a good point Zix. But it is still really hard for me when I make a chord with my left hand and plunk the keys with my right. Just a matter of practice I spose... -
Do You Play Any Musical Instruments?
J0nny Ling0 replied to Zixar's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
I play the trumpet, guitar, concertina, Jews harp, kazoo, dobro guitar, recorder, and kalimba. But I am most proficient on the harmonica. Blues, bluegrass and such with the harmonica. What do I wish I could play? The PIANO. I love boogie woogie piano, and if I could play piano, I would have a major outlet for the music that constantly runs through my head. I am always inventing tunes, but if I could play "pie-anny" as my dear old Pappy used to call it, I think I would just plain love that. I used to love to hear the piano work of Commander Cody And his Lost Planet Airmen. Well actually, I still do! Download the song "Beat Me Daddy, Eight To The Bar" sometime and you will see what I mean. Maybe swallow a few shots of Jim Beam whiskey before you do. Hah! I guess it isn't to late to learn, but with four kids and lots of things to be responsible for, I seem to find it hard to get around to. I can play the old pie-anny fairly well with my right hand, but my left hand is just a plain old retard. I should take lessons and start at the beginning with fundamentals I spose... -
Well Excath, I am a Corps grad and NOT a "spouse Corps". Spouse Corps were "lesser believers" ya know, and not really "Corps". They probably fit into the "spiritual hitch hiker" slot for categories of people. You know, Jews, Gentiles, Church of God and, "Spiritual Hitch hikers". So "don't flip out on that one baby!" Uh, oh yeah. Sorry about that. A bunch of "quotes from the past" just flew into my head and I had to print them. Kinda like a Soviet sleeper agent that gets "activated" by certain key words or thoughts. Uh, who did I marry? Well, I wanna try to remain anonymous for awhile. I usually let it out of the bag because I like to say hi to old friends and acquaintences. What's a "yelder"? Sometimes she is a "yeller" and a tough one to stand up to. She used to play basketball with Richard Thomas, a bunch of other guys, and Robin Ball. My wife and Robin were the only gals to play with the boys down by Uncle Harry, and Richard T. always made sure to give my wife a major hard time. He elbowed her, hacked her, and stuffed her shots easily in that she was short. But she made sure to make the easy lay ups that made RT pretty mad most of the time. Since S was pretty tough, Richard was always picking on her and trying to see how tough she was. One time, when she was coming down the stairway with an armload of books in Uncle Harry dorm, Richard saw her, went up to her and dumped all of her books down the stair well. Just to .... her off and see what she was made of. Now don't get me wrong, they had a friendly "love hate" relationship, and she continues to speak fondly of Richard T. But I thought you all might get a kick out of hearng that. I my ownself liked Richard Thomas. Later when I was in the Tenth Corps, he was my first year Corps Corps coordinator, and, I liked him....
