If TWI were in bankrupcy, what would you bid on at the auction?

WB, "Your training is complete Grasshopper..." -
Ex10, I agree but sadly TWI had some fine actors. "How to win friends and influence people." My desire was the same as yours: to have a way of verifying my beliefs in the Bible. My first FC was corps, very arrogant but also very smooth. He hid the "I know everything" viewpoint pretty well.

Johniam, Many corporations have for years insured senior managers against such lawsuits. If TWI did the same thing, it wouldn't have impacted them in one large hit. However, it would affect their premiums in the way an accident affects your car insurance.

Who do they answer to? Hmm...good question. From: http://www.t-tlaw.com/np-06.htm "The General Standards of Conduct for Officers state that an officer is entitled to rely on information and advice received from employees and outside professionals. Reliance on nonprofit authorities by officers of nonprofit organizations is expressly included. Thus, an officer is excused from liability to the organization and to any person when relying on their information or advice. A manager does not have to be perfect to act with integrity. He or she only needs to be prudent in management." Gee, all they need now is a fall guy. ;-) More legal information on non-profits can be found at: http://www.t-tlaw.com/nonprofit.htm

----------------------- Q: Are these profit centers, or do these just cover the expenses? A: No, these are just break-even. ----------------------- How could she say that their classes are "break-even?!" Aaaarrrggggghhhh! They use my house, my coffee and my refreshments and play a video tape on my VCR which is hooked to my TV using my electricity! I even had to print the flier with directions! If it's not on video then they have some local corps person who works a full-time job and then puts in 40 for TWI read an old syllabus. 7 new students is $700 per class. They don't give out PFAL books anymore so it's just RHST and maybe the blue book. If that costs them $50 per book, they may want to get a new printer! >:-[ I know this isn't exactly insight. I'm just venting.

Radar, Thank you. I didn't know about Mrs. Fischbach.

Would you contribute to a Mrs. W fund?
JustThinking replied to JustThinking's topic in About The Way
----------------------------- CC: Well, it seems that much of the outrage has disappeared....Interesting... When all this first came to light, a number of people expressed a willingness to contribute financially to Mrs. W's care. Such good will has all but evaporated now, it seems. ----------------------------- How lopsided the voting was surprised me. As of this reply, only 17% said they would contribute. 55% said no for a reason that had nothing to do with TWI. For my 2 cents, I am with the folks who said their first priority was to take care of their own family. -

Karmic, Because a lot of folks seem to think that if TWI had asked, many people would have pitched in to help. Just taking a poll to see if it's true. -

ISTW, So TWI's involvement would be irrelevent? You wouldn't either way. -

Is it because of TWI or just another reason? -

Oldies, In the real world it wouldn't be have to be. I just wanted to verify something. Many people have said TWI should have done something. TWI claims their hands are tied because the can't use ABS. My belief is if they had asked, many would be willing to help just because they love the women. So, just proving a theory. -
All, There have been numerous discussions about Mrs. Wierwille's situation. If there were a fund set up to help her, would you contribute even if it were run by TWI but audited by a person or firm of the Wierwille family's choosing?

Oak, I enjoyed the one I went to in the early 90s. The last one though? Nope. It was a rehash of several VPW books. Literally. One whole segment was teaching a condensed version of RHST. I was P*SSED! BORING! My first one in 92 was in the format of LCM at a desk and seem like he was just commenting on things he understood. Much more informal and a lot more enjoyable for me. I felt like I DID get something out of that one. Last one? I was kicking myself for wasting my bucks. Oh, Dallas was nice too. ;-)

Hope, He wasn't removed completely. The syllabus continued to have his name at the front. Kind of weird, actually. And "Live" is kind of relative. It was more like it was read to the class by a live person. 24 hours of someone reading a syllabus to you. Mind-numbing doesn't begin to describe it! My favorite was seeing someone who was the complete opposite of LCM reading his words. It was almost surreal. Have you seen those credit card commercials about identity theft? The one where the thief's voice is talking but you see the one who was ripped off? Same feeling. Spooky.

Pirate, You must be hell on an opthomologist. ;-)

Outin88, I have to think that this type of event does NOT cost almost $400K to put on. It sounds like a money-maker to me. P-mosh, I think W in B was canned too. Anyone know? Garth, Thank you. It would be nice to understand this to help others who may not see this as a money-making event. One of the best things I have gained from this site was good information. One of the things that changed my mind about TWI was the Waydale documents. Another's experiences or story may or may not be true. A court deposition from a current member of the BOT is hard to refute. Ironically, I was drawn to TWI because they said someone's belief should be able to be backed with the Bible. :-)

Ex, It was me. :-) I sent a note to you because I had mentioned you in a post. Just in case your ears were burning. JT

Early2it, Slavery lived through ignorance. Calling people names and ranting never dispels ignorance. Getting to facts and truth will. I'm sorry you choose to behave this way. So many left TWI because of people like you. Had you presented any facts instead of just name calling you might have helped someone. Even MORE evidence that the quiz was correct! Coincidence? I think not! The bad thing is that when I tried to picture other posters as X-men, I saw Ex as Rogue (Her gentleness). Now that mind picture is ruined. :-( Ex, Are you on this thread?

Early2it, Quote from Year2027: "If they was loving you would stay free and the food would be free but watch out because they may charge you rent for the chair at the teaching" And he's not the first to express the "well, if they love me, why do they charge me" position. Out of curiousity, have YOU ever booked a large event like this? If you did, you would know the registration fee does not always cover the total cost. Also, unless you have financial information on these classes, their cost and any money made on them, how can you say those things? If you have evidence, please post it. Otherwise, it's just a guess or an opinion which could be wrong. I HAVE helped in planning for events of over 1000 people before and can say that unless you have a lot of cash up front, you are dead. There is, for example, a deposit placed almost a year in advance to hold a hotel this size. The registration money wouldn't start showing up until well after that check is written and cashed. Plus there's no guarantee of the number of attendees. Not enough to pay the cost? Too bad, you're stuck with the bill. As someone who's done it, I can't see how they could do it WITHOUT money coming beforehand. In their terms, that's ABS.

Hmm...here's a blow to his ego. Changing Ali to Shakespeare had this affect: You are Rogue! You are sexy and strong willed, and able to take on just about anyone. You long for a serious relationship, but whenever you begin to get close to someone things always seem to take turns for the worse. But you have dealt with this lack of closeness with an almost constant flirtacious behavior. Hey Zix, I think you're onto something!
-
Zix, May I call you Zix? ;-) I thought about that but the others probably weren't high on his list either. At least I'm sure he knew who the guy was. Is there another one on the list you think might be better?
-
DWB, LOL! Best laugh I've had all day! One day you think you've raised a genius and the next day...
-
Zix, Me too. Maybe we're related? ;-) Or maybe we're just both bald and crippled? On the upside, he DID stop Magneto! Do you agree with the LCM answers?
-
Which X-man are you? Below is a link I just found to a quiz which determines which one you are: http://quizilla.com/users/tedelton/quizzes...most%20like%3F/ This is classic! (IMO) The answers I put in for LCM were: 1. My sex appeal 2. My temper 3. Muhammad Ali (Did he know who Steven Hawkings was?) 4. Sex 5. Flirting 6. The Fast and the Furious 7. Make myself more athletic So who was LCM? Wolverine! Here's their description: "You are Wolverine! A loner by nature, you feel uncomfortable when around those you don't know and even those you do. You are awkward when it comes to relationships, but fiercely loyal to those you love."
