Did the Leaders of TWI Stick with Wierwille's Plan?

Did the Leaders of TWI Stick with Wierwille's Plan?
JustThinking replied to Oakspear's topic in About The Way
I probably have a different perspective in that I got into TWI after VP died. My impression was that people slavishly worshipped the guy. He was less a leader than the founder of a cult of personality. Old grads who couldn't function in the real world walking around imitating an old german guy from the cornfields of Ohio. I met one guy who bought the same type of dog as VP. Don't remember the breed but it was bred for duck hunting. The idiot lived hundreds of miles from water! Didn't even own a gun. The sad thing is the dog seemed to help him feel better about himself and more spiritual. Did people stick with his plan? Did many people buy into his little clone's desire to set up his OWN little personality empire? Yep. Was it going on during VPs day? That's for someone else who was there to say. Craig was his father's son, from what I have seen. JT -
Maybe she was the only bigshot who couldn't be accused of participating in various activities that has them paying court costs? Promotion by elimination?

Mr H, My only response is Hahahahahahahahaha! ROFL! Was Harve the one with the mustache? ;)--> On a serious note, my impression is that there are some sly folks still around TWI. It might be unwise to just assume they're completely clueless. We might yet see some bold moves to recapture the customers, uh, believers and bring them and their checkbooks back. Here's why I say that: 1. The people left have GOT to be pretty hardcore. They'll accept anything at this point. Good base to build on. 2. During the bad years of the late 80s/early 90s, Craig rallied the troops with heavy promotion of TWI programs. If they bring any of them back such as family camps, we could see a return to selling more than one shtick like they do today with Wayward Disciples. 3. One of the big limiting factors of WAP was the teacher himself. HQ put a hold on registering any new students until that person actually heard Loy screaming at least once. Really, not kidding. So many people were dropping out after hearing him that it became a MAJOR issue. What momentum there was fizzled. If they get someone remotely interesting and not psychotic, they might get somewhere. After all, they did "borrow" some good material to stitch together PFAL. 4. My impression is that things have kind of stabilized. TWI relies on their people getting comfortably dumb and then using them. It's been a while so my guess is that the drones are ready for a new wave of "serving." Am I giving them too much credit? JT

Did the Leaders of TWI Stick with Wierwille's Plan?

VP was SOOOOOO big on military analogies for others, why not let them apply to him too? He loved to say that stupid "The suggestion of a general is tantamount to an order." (I asked someone in the military about that and was told you can get people killed by assuming like that) Was VP responsible? The captain of the ship is responsible for everything that happens regardless. He or she is supposed to know what is going on. So does VP deserve some blame? If you follow HIS standards, yes. -

BFD, I have to ask: Who would be Sec/Treasurer? Ralph D.? ;-) No, wait, I nominate Paw for S/T! Now THAT would be interesting! :)--> -
Igoutout has a point about trying to resurrect something so discredited and dead. They will have to make it at least somewhat different from WAP to fool those who don't rememeber PFAL. VPs class is getting to be a pretty distant memory so maybe they can plagiarize parts from that? How ironic would that be?!
-
Igotout, That is only if you actually care about the results or ethics. If your only measure is the cash coming in, it's a good idea. The only success they've had is to market a cult of personality not a cult of beliefs. Wierwille was bigger than PFAL and it was their only real big hit. They tried it with TWI II but the internet killed that. Even during Craigs reign, they tried to recapture the VP era. They had the corpse calling Howard A***n "Uncle Howard", for example. Pretty lame though. Most or all of it just fizzled. I expect they'll do the same again.

Never heard the guy teach but if he's that boring maybe TWI COULD bring him back.

Linda, :)--> It is but before his plastic surgery. The band used digital editing to take the bat out of the picture and insert a mike. ;)-->

I don't think it's kinder or more gentle. When you have 200 or more angry people in your state and someone egging them on (Craig & co.), it's easy to develop a mob mentality. Now that many, if not all, states are down to 40 or 50, very different dynamics. I think there was a mob-like mentality that ruled TWI for a while. (Hey Craig, isn't that some kind of devil spirit?!) Now there are just small pockets of Wayfers clinging to a dying cult. Hard to keep the torches lit.

Oops, forgot to put my two cents in: Joe Coulter for President - Close ties to Craiggers and Donna but name didn't come up in scandals - Wholesome Donnie Osmond looks - Been around forever but kept a low profile Donna for VP. Nice set up to take over at some point. Harve or someone obedient for Sec/Treas. -
Out, I haven't been out long. (About 2 years) There was a big change after Craig got tossed. Instead of yelling at people which makes TWI look bad they are taught to be nice to your face now. However, they do NOT think of you ANY differently. If you could hear what they say about people who are gone, it hasn't changed ONE bit. Still the same nasty comments but they don't show it in public. Beating kids with a spoon was the same way. Wayfers were told not to do in PUBLIC because it made the ministry look bad. JT

In the "ACS in Texas", skyrider suggested: This is the official call for submissions to nominate the next president of The Way. You can post a funny response (not this crowd!) but try to suggest a serious guess as well, if you can. Any "innie"sight would be helpful too! JT

I think we'll consider this an jen-u-wine semi-official rumor with no basis in fact. Kind of like much of Martindale's theories. Well, kids, I'm off to start a thread to nominate Rosie's replacement. Then can we EVER truly replace her? ;-)

The real ACS survival list: Butt pillow for Marquis De Sade chairs Pleny 'o cash for the (check)bookstore Bible (Write lots of notes to look spiritual) Notebook. Copy down as many statements-of-the-obvious that you can. (Will need them for the "What changed my whoooooollllle life" review) Writing instrument (Need more than one because there will be soooo much you haven't heard before) Spare writing instrument (see above) More cash No-Doz for the mornings fifth of tequila (or drambuie) for the afternoons Rest of your cash Wild imagination to convince yourself that you are the only bored person there Sweater for the ladies because it will be freezing in that room Pain medication for your back (Per Lindy) A friend to hide out with Name tag to prove you are really somebody no matter what the "world" thinks Did I miss anything?
