  1. Belle, My first thought about the old videos was "you're kidding?!" Then I realized that there truly is nothing new under the sun. These people are so predictable. JT
  2. I wonder what a doctor or psychologist would say about an abusive spouse who seems to have a magical change occur when they need something from you or you threaten to leave? Hmm...? Isn't that the stereotypical line?
  3. skyrider quote: sky, I really hadn't thought of it that way. There really IS nothing left that many of us knew. The corpse program is so small that it's probably an afterthought. Someone posted recently about the latest group being a few families or singles and that's it. I guess they could drag out old video clips of VP and walk down memory lane. Of course, they would make sure to edit Craig out of anything they show. Truly sad...
  4. No thanks OM. I got taken for a ride enough during my time in TWI. :(-->
  5. Oh my! Jim, I love you! This was such a pain for me! My ability to memorize is good for some things but word-for-word verses? Ugh! Can't do it.
  6. One thing I did see was a bias against anyone with a problem that couldn't be solved by quoting PFAL or some wayfer book. Alcoholism, for example. We had a person struggling with it but acknowledging they needed help. They were told to go to AA not us and kind of shoved out the door. This was during the reign of King Loy and his middle class crusades. Eagle was your experience during or after the late 90s?
  7. I wanted to be the first to say it. It is so nice saying that again. :)--> You folks are wonderful. Happy New Years too! JT
  8. Belle quote: Amen. How could I forget that? Thanks for the reminder, Belle. JT
  9. DM :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> parsley, Congratulations! By the way, is that a family name? ;)--> JT
  10. My answer probably won't be much fun. I never got pressure to give as I did it on my own anyway. Our family was taught to support the things we were in whether it was a church or civic organization. I still give to charities and things I believe in. We support the Lions Club, local zoo and others. They all benefit me so why not? My first priority though is people I know who need something. I would change the question from "haved you saved" to "have you given less." In my case, probably not. It's just going to something different now. Life without giving would be sad.
  11. Last time I saw her, she was buying a ton of makeup. Does that count for something? A cult version of Tammy Faye Baker.
  12. During the reign of Kind Craig, VP's name was all but banished. If anybody should have celebrated VP's death it would be him. Nobody buried him deeper. Holidays under Craig: Happy Nude Year In-De-Pants Day Mammorial Day LaidHer Day
  13. WAP Class - Miss Screaming WAP Class teacher - Miss, would you like to... Cornfield preacher idol worship - Big miss Good friends made in TWI (All safely out now) - Hit
  14. Belle, Very reasonable. To my knowledge, the two people I knew personally in TWI who bought houses did so without any real "insight" from TWI. I wanted to do it too but got no help at all from the TWIts in charge. So much for being a can-do ministry. :(--> One person not in TWI told me more about what he did. Basically, worked hard in school, got good grades, a good job and lived at home after college for a few years to save money. When he and his wife got married, they had a big head start. Not sure how much though. JT
  15. JM, 18? As a person, my desire is to say find out for yourself but give you all the warnings. My first instinct as a dad is to say "run like hell!" Seriously, it's bad. Please avoid them. I would never tell my kids anything else. JT
  16. :)--> The latest production of GreaseSpot Cafe' Theatre. A future classic. How ironic that "Uncle Harry" would be writing this!
  17. Lindy, :D--> I must have made some excuse, oops, I mean been ill that day. ;)--> How credible is it if that person has never actually done it themselves?! And I never met a single corpse person who had. Come to think of it, Craig started this but never had a real career before TWI or paid cash for a house. (That I know of) We are the Way Irrational. We're a "Have-To" ministry. ;)--> JT
  18. Belle, It isn't in our culture. I do think it's possible and preferable but have a hard time with it somehow being God's will. The thing that always bothered me about TWI's policy was they never said HOW to do it. So much for being a "how-to" ministry. Although I stopped hearing that line quite a while before I left. It became more of a "Have-to" ministry. JT
  19. THW, Oh, yeah! Now that you mention it, I heard the same thing on the field. Hadn't thought about that in years. Late 80s when there were actually a few poor stiffs left who weren't afraid to blink without "wise counsel." I stand corrected.
  20. Belle, I've seen it done. People work hard and their spouse does too before they have kids. And they weren't filthy rich. I don't know that much about their finances as I didn't care to ask. One couple worked in retail positions which aren't known for making millionaires. And their parents are still very much alive so I doubt there was some inheritance. I hear people say it's impossible but... JT
  21. def, Huh? ????? When did they charge people to Speak in Tongues?
  22. Oenophile, Who is Jim? JT
  23. Sudo: Good point. Hadn't thought of it. Thank you.
