Xena, Maybe we were in different Advanced Classes. I never heard anyone mention Tolkien or wearing a cross as something we should STILL be ashamed for doing in the past. Actually, I don't think I remember Tolkien ever mentioned. I took both VP's and LCM's. I came away on a pretty emotional high after leaving each one. Of course, experiences do seem to vary a LOT around here. Did you take in the 80s, 90s or later? What DO you call the decade we're in anyway? The "0s?" Oh, wait, how unprevailing of me. Belle, Until the day comes when they do leave, she could try looking for outside activities that could be sold as beneficial to her husband or family. Taking a class on calligraphy (great for those cards, you know, etc.), for example. I realize this isn't much but it beats staring at four walls all day. You know her and her situation better. Perhaps there is something along these lines? Just a suggestion. JT

I would phrase it this way: Should we expect less of someone who claims to be the first spokeman of God's revealed Word in 1900 years than a doctor, dentist or other professional? In their fields it is called misconduct or malpractice and leads to disbarment and/or arrest. Pretty clear to me. JT

Ok, truth be told: I find this whole topic too funny. Do people still take VP and his stolen classes this seriously anymore? Yikes! I don't if I should laugh or cry! JT

I don't bother. PFAL has no real relevence to my life. There are SOOOOOO many more important things to do with my time. Love the woman of my dreams, my kids, learn something valuable (as opposed to debunking something of no use to me), etc. I'd rather do almost anything else. Some might say "then why are you 'wasting' time here?" Here, I connect with people. That's cool. The good that I got from TWI was from meeting good people, for the most part. That enhanced my life, often despite TWI itself. Personally, I slept through PFAL most of the time. Watching VPs eyebrows go up and down with his exaggerated facial expresssions was like watching a cartoon preacher. ZZzzz... JT

I have to say that I got a lot of great parenting advice from corps folks over the years. They even helped us figure out ways to make fellowship workable for younger kids. If anything, we took it past where we should have and have apologized to our kids. I'm very grateful in this area of life to the teaching we got. To be fair, we got some really bad advice too but no more so than we would probably have had from anywhere else. I don't recall any of it (good or bad) being in the form of edicts though. The worst advice we got from a BC was stopped by our LC though and the BC was told to "get your head out of your a**." :D--> JT

Excessive exposure wasn't great for Loy, in the long run. If Rosie lets her underlings put THEIR names on every decision, she can't be blamed.

Yep, their fear of having time with their family, a home of their own, free time, the ability to think for themselves, etc.
