  1. What you experienced in twi is what I've often referred to as twi's caste system. Or, pecking order. So, were the chores/duties divided up evenly? Or did you guys have to due *more than your fair share of the grunt work*......extra cleaning, mowing and shoveling snow? Just seems to me that some were elbowing their way to positions of "lording over others." Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. The hard core [as you noted above] gave out orders with little compassion or empathy for the indentured servants. Suck it up and do what you're told. Renew your mind to what I tell you, schlub. Those who sit in seats of authority love to pontificate their spirituality.....but do they follow in the steps of Jesus Christ? Heck, ole wierwille spent so much time preaching out of them church epistles that he seemed to ignore the Lord Jesus Christ and ALL that he accomplished. Oh, I know....he gave lip-service in pfal and all, but by 1978, 79....as vpee was zoning in on the Book of Romans (corps teachings), each teaching was consumed by those 'literal translations according to usage'....and wierwille could spend an hour on one or two words. Yep, I ran thru twi's gauntlet.......and learned everything I needed to know about manipulation, intimidation and exploitation. And....I'm thanking the Lord for those lessons of what NOT to do or abide by.

  2. First, I didn't call it "whoring for Jesus" or say that it was promoted by leaders (though sometimes it was.). What I said was this: .....and yet, it was commonplace in The Way's halcyon days for women (and sometimes men) to use physical attraction to lure new recruits into the fold, some even offering sexual favors in exchange for a Green Card commitment. Once the new recruit was hooked, the Way-promoting believer would move on to another prospective recruit. It was the Way's version of bait and switch, sometimes referred to as date and switch. I guess it's only considered a "distraction" if it leads people AWAY, rather than TO the organization. I assure you date and switch is real. It's how I and some of the other posters here wound up in the PFAL class. Does anyone besides The Way use sex to market their product? Of course. Here's what bothers me, though. First, you misrepresent it and claim you never heard of it, implying it didn't happen. Then, you turn right around and imply it would be OK if it did because other people use sex to sell their products, anyhow. If you think it was wrong, just say so. Don't pretend you never heard of it or that it would be OK to "jump off the bridge" because all the other kids are doing it. Date and switch was used on me. I said it, you read it. Now you can't say you never heard of it.

  3. They order the boring dresses out of mother-of-the-bride catalogs. I know. I saw them when I worked wardrobe. They were the same catalogs mailed to me because I had been planning my own wedding. I asked why the dresses were so unattractive and was told that it was so the ladies didn't "distract" from the word.
