  1. How horrible is it that when you're already upset at the death of someone that you have to brace yourself before you tell those others, who claim to be closer than family and friends, knowing that condemnation of you or someone you love will be their first reaction. Maybe you'll tell yourself that they're afraid and that makes them angry and wanting to blame, but how cruel that you have to put up with that sick behavior on top of everything else. I'm so sorry that this happened to so many and am feeling an old shaky anger in my stomach that people were treated like this.

  2. What annoys me about these sort of things on FB is that it puts pressure on people to make a display of their "faith" to others. I hate that sort of thing. My spiritual beliefs are my own, and I don't have to explain them to anyone since I am an citizen of the USA. Some of my beliefs would offend others, some would lead others to condemn me as a non-believer or devilish. I am Christian, but I believe as Christ said that I don't need to make a show of my beliefs - I can let the fruit of my life show instead. Jesus said that others would know us by the love we have one toward another. Not by a "like" button someone presses without thinking... not by labels... (And if you had to put a label on me, I would be a Buddho-Christian-Catholic-Charismatic with some Pagan tendencies. )

  3. It's been fairly well documented among doctors that depression, anxiety, and the like suppress the immune system thus opening up the body for all kinds of things. I'm not just making this up. With my own health issues, medical information I received said this very thing. Of course, I suppose someone could "run" with this and say all one had to do was "stay happy" and good health would be guaranteed. That's not true either, but it is a factor. My in-laws have been married for 65 years! He's 93 and she's 86. Every night before going to bed they sing love songs to each other! I live with them and I know.

  4. Its refreshing to hear that from a christian. I respect all faith traditions, to me they all have important things to offer. Trouble is but a few steps away when anyone adopts their own as the exclusive and only one.....been there/done that---no thanks The last thing I would ever want is a "Click here!" religion

  5. It was so cool how Kristen would over look my dustiness; their is that poem, foot prints in the sand; I saw foot prints in the dust.

  6. Reminds me of the plot to one of those old Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland movies. "Hey, kids! Let's put on a stage show in the barn and win the war!"

  7. "I think somebody better put out the big light, cause I can't stand to see you this way. Alison, I know this world is killing you. Oh, Alison, my aim is true ..."

  9. She tried to "teach" me during my last staff evaluation in 1986 that I didn't need to have any time for personal reading/study of the Bible because, after all, I was reading the Way Magazine and other Way Pubs in the course of my work every day. That was just one of many red flags she waved in my face. Thanks, Rosalie. If I hadn't seen your true colors I might have stuck around longer than I did. And realizing that VPW gave a woman like her so much responsibility was another eye opener. It became clear to me that his judgment was nowhere near the spiritual level I had once thought it was. Back to the original question of this thread, I can't imagine she was ever an inspiring high school teacher. I never saw her teach in twi. All I ever saw her do was parrot the party line and spit out indoctrination. Oh...and rules...lots and lots of rules.
