    Oh, Happy Day!

Religious convictions aside, this is simply one powerful piece of music.
  3. That's interesting. Human, I can understand. Not a super-hero freak. But WW, you haven't seen "The Dark Knight Rises"? That was Catwoman, rescuing Batman by blasting Bane's minions. Okay, let's try another one: "They call me MISTER Tibbs!" George
  4. Agree.... and since this thread is about books of the '70s.. off topic as well... thanks. Happy Resurrection Sunday, one and all!
  5. OK, same artist, different song. "Well, I've been waiting, Waiting here so long, But thinking nothing, Nothing could go wrong. Ooh now I know"
  6. Phil Silvers It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Buddy Hackett
  7. Since "Survivor" has contestants out away from people, I'm not sure other languages would ever be useful.
  8. "Especially at night, I worry over situations, I know will be all right. It's just OVERKILL." Men at Work with "OVERKILL." I really thought he was going too easy when he went with the same band.
  9. I think we're all drawing a blank here.
  10. Bob Barker has been very, very vocal about having all pets spayed or neutered, and vocal about animal rights in general. Thus the line "I say we neuter him right now. Give him the Bob Barker treatment!" So, you have it.
  11. Okay then, you're staying with the same group I see. "Day after Day" is not the title but that's all I can come up with.
  12. Bored enough to squeeze a figure of speech out of a mango - learned how (H-O-W) to do that from Bullinger. Midst the grind of my boredom, I read this little article by Ryan Holiday. I was reminded of you, Rocky. It fits the thread somehow. If not like a glove, then like a belt holding up the pants. You shouldn't hit a paywall, but if you do, let me know, I'll try to share it another way. Only if you're interested, of course. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/19/opinion/naval-academy-speech-censorship.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
  13. I had to google it, so I disqualified myself. Good tune. Excellent choice
  14. Yesterday
  15. I can't tell where the one line ends, so I'll add this. "I can't get to sleep, I think about the implications"
  16. Would you trade places with him? From the Douay-Rheims Latin Vulgate: 39 And one of those robbers who were hanged, blasphemed him, saying: If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering, rebuked him, saying: Neither dost thou fear God, seeing thou art condemned under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this man hath done no evil. 42 And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with me in paradise. 44 And it was almost the sixth hour; and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. [43] COMMENTARY: "In paradise": That is, in the happy state of rest, joy, and peace everlasting. Christ was pleased, by a special privilege, to reward the faith and confession of the penitent thief, with a full discharge of all his sins, both as to the guilt and punishment; and to introduce him immediately after death into the happy society of the saints, whose limbo, that is, the place of their confinement, was now made a paradise by our Lord's going thither.
  17. Had Ethelbert believed big enough to live long enough, he might have INVENTED the ice cream cone! Hey, I didn’t REwrite the book. Victor did. He also invented stuff. Speaking of silly, “four-crucified” is the preferred euphemism for all lies and bullsh¡t in my household. I’m really trying to watch my foul mouth, especially around my son. So, lots of spelling, abbreviating and saying “four-crucified.” (It’s been getting a lot of use in recent months.) Just last week my son was feigning a tummy ache to get out of going to school. I got him on the phone and said, “I’m calling four-crucified on this…!” He got up, got dressed, and went to school. I was so proud of myself for exercising such restraint that, well, gosh, I felt like could just jump over a barn.
  18. My fault, I'll try a different one. "I can't get to sleep"
