How about a thread within a thread? Like what's THE deal?
Here's my offering based on my "what's THE deal?" meditation today while waiting at the checkout stand:
I went to the grocery store today and noticed for the umpteenth time that most of the women's mags at the checkout feature 2 types of cover stories -- both of which appear in every issue. The first is yet another diet or fitness routine, the second is some million calorie desert or something, complete with mouth watering pictures. Talk about mixed messages! What's THE deal?

I clicked on THE a few minutes ago, my computer froze for a moment and then my browser minimized. When I restored it, it wouldn't fill my whole screen. I have an inch of desktop above my browser. Tried rebooting, nothing helps.
Could this be an omen of THE 2K? Quick, head for THE hills!
